yeah, I did that; every time it starts up, ME seems to make a copy of the config.sys file called config.bak, after which it erases the contents of the original config.sys file (but not delete the file itself). :wtf:

So typical for microcrap... :doubt:

98SE worksw for me for 2,5 years now, excpet for one driver issue, wich caused me to format, and now an virusscan issue, but that ain't 98, that's mcaffee. IMO, 98SE is one of the better OS's maid by M$, however, ME has it's own advantages.

You must have a different 98SE then me cause I've got DOS right here. :p

He said WinME, not Win98

you guys realize that just because your computer crashes doesn't necesarily mean it's your OS, right? heh :) ;)

I personally like 2kpro best, and then XP and 98se

I am using XP home and I am happy with it. :)
Anyway, if you wanna have dos in your ME or XP or such, you can make a Win 98 startup disc, turn off your PC, set in the disc and turn it on again. Sorry if this has been said before. I didn't have time to read all the posts.

I'm fairly sure it was a corrupted file somewhere in the OS (for some reason my comp shut down wrong about 50% of the time in W98SE). Oh well, switched OSes to XP Home, let's see how long before I hate this one.
