Model changing SEXP could be good with fire-turret.
Petrach and a few other escaped in a pod but were covered in watermelon juice....it was horrible :eek2: :shaking: -dan87uk

OK, I've decided to go with the missile frigate idea, so now I need some missle turrets for the ship's nose.  I already have mounts for smaller torpedos along the ventral and dorsal lines, but I want something extra-heavy for the front.  The standard button turret isn't doing it for me here.

EDIT: here's a try, admitedly a bit unorthodox, but here she is for comments:

Ah! NOW I like it. No longer "wings" but fins!

Wings = big, fins = small

Ironicly I didn't even change the fins.  As for the missiles, I had planned to have another missile drop into the place of the one fired as soon as it cleared, essentially removing the need to update the image.  Sort of a cop-out I know, but I don't want it getting too complicated.

You'll also notice a longer hull and recessed conning tower lights, proof positive that I actually listen to feedback ;)

Looks neat, tho the engine texture is majorly squished.  Best sort that, IMO.

I noticed that too... That shot didn't do it full justice, but I will see what I can do.  Look at the pics again.

But they seem smaller. You increased the hull size? Or is it just perspective?

I lengthened the hull by 1/10 total length or so, but not in that area.  I think it's just perspective.  Keep in mind that the basic views (front, top, side) have no perspective on them, so judging the design from those shots would be somewhat inaccurate compared to in-game appearance.  They really weren't that big to begin with though.

And that text on the side is the ship's nameplate, GTCv Ajax (I am stunned that this name is not already taken BTW).

Can we have this in DatDB??? Pweeease...!?!? :D

*Loves in* Front mount missles could be heavy artillerly like.. big ass explotions on proximity. Or maybe just heavy aginst caps.

ok, a little update.  I wanted a little more of the missiles, so I made a couple more launchers.  They are angled slightly out, as to miss the bulbous nose when they fire.  Of course, this means they won't all fire at once, but I still think it adds to the appearance greatly.  As does anti-aliasing, but that I should know to do anyway.

EDIT: Forgot the pics.  Went from

All hail StratComm, Lord of the Polygon.  May Aldo the God of Cool Designs and Venom the God of All Modeling continue to bless and guide him.
So as through a glass, and darkly

Where I fought in many guises,
Many names, but always me.

Hmm... not nearly as good looking as your Vasudan capship, StratComm.

Sid.

I disagree, I think this is his best so far.

Except that light carrier.

Sorry to bump a bit of a long dead thread, but i was just wondering if this ship had been released or not yet?

hmm...images removed....

Looks pretty good. My own personal taste, I'd go with recessed launch bays, similar to the look of a submarine's torpedo tubes when the hatches are open in the firing position. Just seems kind of surreal with the protruding warheads. Over all good work!
All I ask is a tall ship and a star to steer her by.
