If you wouldn't mind telling me (and if it's allowed on the forum) where I could get a full sounds file or a new sounds file for BF1942? I lended the game from a friend, but the disk was scratched, so I had to skip the sound file. I got the music part installed, but all in-game noises are non-existant.


Also, could someone tell me why my PIII 800 Mhz, 256 MB of RAM, and Radeon 9000 load each BF1942 game in about 5-10 MINUTES?!

1 - Get a new CD, there's some mods with sounds in but I can't garuntee the whole thing will install ok. For a good sound pack see Merciless Creations 4.0 pack, it's huge but worth it.

2 - Yes, RAM. Anything 256 or less will take a while to load - the game is very intensive on resources. I've got around a 10 second load time for most maps although that does vary between the lower detail ones and the huge ones.

Yes, does the Merciless Creations 4.0 pack replace all the sounds, or just edit a few, leave others, etc.?

That's the trouble - I honestly don't know, you could try your luck with it and see if anything is missing but other than that it's pot luck and only half way through a match do you realise that you can't hear the tracer fire and don't know you're being shot at! If the CD is scratched anyway then perhaps you can take it back to wherever you bought it and replace it?

it's not mine. My friend lent it to another one of our friends, then to me, and the previous guy scratched it up so the audio doesn't install properly.

You could also use a disk doctor on the CD to fix it. I think it is called that... friggin fuzzy memory.
