You've got a point. Ships in all games are starting to look alike, as there is a limit to the imagination of designers.
Or a limitation on what looks cool and can be semi realistic at the same time (e.g. you gotta have room for engines, life support, and other systems).
I'm beginning to wonder just how many original design concepts can ever exist. I see elements of all these past things in everything I see nowadays... if you get my drift.
You guys are right. you can have only two basic designs; wing and no-wing. Then you got under your wing catagory; front wings (think early aircraft, N-1 starfighter), middle wings (more like our current day fighters), back wings (like the X-wing or somewhat like our jet liners), and acouple of others (flying wing, B-2, TIE fighter).
Under no-wing; flying boxes (like the Herc 1 & 2), satalites, big capital ships.
Thats just a basic look at it. There are other variations under those sub-catagorys as well.
