just thought of this this morning...

what do you all do when you think of a new design?  (or new idea in general)
not like open your eyes really big or convulse, but do you commit it to memory?  do you scribble down little bits of it onto paper?  do you sit down and paint a da Vinci?  what?

I have three or four pages of paper tacked to the wall by my computer with all kinds of crap and bits of thought scribbled all over them, waiting to be made a reality when I amass any skill whatsoever :)
[ED] I figure the little bits flow together and offer more variety, often producing something totally different from what was originally intended, yet equally cool

just a thought

[color=66ff00]Generally I have a shape that I like in my head, I build this shape in the modeller and start to subtract, add and tweak until I have something I'm happy with. I've only drawn one ship out on paper. Everything else is done straight from memory.

I think very well spatially, so I pretty much build it in my head then go straight to modelling. If it's tricky I might place a few lines and curves first to see how things work in 3D.

I keep my future model/map(in Q3, or JK2) in head, and it is certain I won't forget it. My memory can get further than the Trebuchet :)

Otherwise, It is certain I won't be able to do exactly I imagined, so it is mind what I am keeping in my mind, those are only ambitions, it is sure I cannot do exactly as I imagined. :(

Who can make a model which exactly matches to his/her imagination in hand, or on paper?

I scribble it down in an agenda usually ( since I'm 12, I've made hundreds of "agenda sketch pages" :p ).
