Anyway... An ATI isn't an option for me, because i'm a big Thief fan, and ATIs do a hideous job of fog rendering in Thief II. I've strongly considered the ti4200, but I want a DX9 part so I don't have to upgrade again in a few months. Ehh... I'll probably just wait until HL2 is released and buy whatever nVidia card is in the sub-$200 range then.

Maybe if you're lucky the NV36 will be out, and the FX 5900 Value cards (which we're still waiting for, nVidia ) will be around 200 then.

Aldo: At present...the difference between 128mb and 256mb is minor because no game has need for such memory.  At very high resolutions the frame buffers that get stored in the memory start to take up some real space and thats where the 256mb comes in.  At present, the 128mb is a top notch solution....but 64mb isn't going to cut it for anything in the near future.  So I'd buy a 128mb card...the pricing isn't that different and the performance and longevity of a 128mb card over a 64mb card (which is pretty much bargin bin vid cards that you sell OEM now) is worth the difference.
