Has any one made a proper range of good looking cival (well generally none military) vessels.

I know there are a few bits and bobs floating around, but most are, well there isnt an easy way of saying it ... ****.

I was thinking of things like: civillian liner, colony ships, garbage haullers, civillian (fighter sized) personal "cars", police (mik's and venoms is a good one), frieght liners and all the rest.

General stuff that could be used to add more depth to freespace so people can go beyond the pure military factor of the game ... if they wanted.

Well, I was hoping Venom would do this with his thing he wanted to do , but they turned out more like a pirate faction.. at least they were going to.

As for everyone else, I think the problem is, either nobody has because they haven't needed to yet, or if they have, they keep it in their campaigns.

My team's working (hopefully ) on Civilian ships for use in a demo for the Semi-Secret-Project™, but it takes just as long as any other mods. I think I'll put whatever we come up with for public download though.

TI's doing a lot of Civvy stuff. OR's due out in a couple of months, and with that you'll get a Civillian Pleasure Yacht, Civillian Bulk Transport, Civillian fighter (converted for piratical use) and a Civillian freighter/courier ship. More stuff will be out with TI proper,

I was thinking of this more as a community project like venoms scavanger fleet he was going to do.

A series of models to a high enough quality that could be used be one and all, but im no modeller ... or FREDer or anything else for that matter, but i just thought it would be .... 'nice' if some one did it

Current cilivlian projects list:
- 3 liners
- 4-5 transports
- a hauler
- personal ships/achts
- police veichels
- constuction veichels
- construction drones

when I'll be finished with all of them...who knows..

I'm doing some Civvy stuff, mainly because Act 1 of The Swarm War takes place almost exclusively along primary shipping lanes.

The only problem is I suck at Civvy designs.......

The biggest difference between Civilian and Military vessels would be hull plating since the ship builders would be The Usual Suspects.

I guess this answers my question in the Brontes thread.

I'm working on civilian models as an open community projects. To date, I've done the Asher class civilian Tug (Venom and others are working on texturing and poffing it) and the Shirow class Police Runabout (Venom said he'd texture it if he had a chance). I'll be working on other designs as I have time.

The basic plan is that I'll produce meshes and pass them to people who wants to do textures and pathing and poffing, etc.

Mike: say, what about redoing my liner? you've seen the pic, I believe, and I don't really have the time to do it again from scratch. I suppose from the posted pic it's easy to make out ( if not I'd post the old pof and that's it )?

Civvy craft eh?

I made a ship pack like that once... can't remember where it's gone but it took your basic Terran transports and gave them a selection of paint jobs. Pretty basic, but also effective if I do say so myself.

Yeah, I can rework that, V. Let me clear a couple of things off my plate for the 158th and Mindgames and then I'll grab that model and see what I can do.
