Wow. Just... wow. I actually love the brown parts, and the texture job seems for the most part to compliment the geometry. Well done.

However, now that I can see things clearer, I agree that the spiky and curving parts (the arch, mainly) seem out of place. The arch could probably be made with straight(er?) sides and be really cool, but I don't know about that bottom spike. Seems purposeless. Engines could use some de-organic-ing work, too.

But again, so as not to leave a bad taste in anyone's mouth - I love that ship. :D

"...The quintessential quality of our age is that of dreams coming true. Just think of it. For centuries we have dreamt of flying; recently we made that come true: we have always hankered for speed; now we have speeds greater than we can stand: we wanted to speak to far parts of the Earth; we can: we wanted to explore the sea bottom; we have: and so  on, and so on: and, too, we wanted the power to smash our enemies utterly; we have it. If we had truly wanted peace, we should have had that as well. But true peace has never been one of the genuine dreams - we have got little further than preaching against war in order to appease our consciences. The truly wishful dreams, the many-minded dreams are now irresistible - they become facts." - 'The Outward Urge' by John Wyndham

Stretching right back to Kant, through the Frankfurt School and up to today, liberalism means that we can do anything we like as long as we don't hurt others. This means that if we are tolerant of others' intolerance - especially when that intolerance is a call for genocide - then all we are doing is allowing that intolerance to flourish, and allowing the violence that will spring from that intolerance to continue unabated." - Bren Carlill

I was kinda looking for an exotic look on this one, hence those panels and "spikes"
Drop the feedback :)

Me likes more than before.

One thing though, change the lights at the front so that they are linear to the length of the vessel instead of the vertical.

I am neither here nor there on that subject, because both forms have their strengths.  However, on this model in particular you've got some obvious banding happening with the light-dark alternation about a third the way back; this would be fixed quite nicely if the lighting was reoriented.

And all the big yellow installation panels make it look little bit like a christmas tree.  Exposed techy-stuff: good for luxury liners, bad for warships.  It's just a little bit too prominent in the design.  Perhaps if it were custom mapped...

Those textures make the whole thing look fighter sized. You did an excellent job of texturing it, mind you. It just looks really really tiny now.
[I am not really here. This post is entirely a figment of your imagination.]

Raven, were it physically possible, I would have your kids.

Great, as always.

edit: Who, if anyone, is getting to use these awesome models? You've shown over 10 finished models in these forums, and yet I don't see them being used in any mod? Or is that just becuase its top secret or something?

edit2: Nice texturing. I know most people say they don't like it, but I think its good that you're using more than 1 or 2 textures. It makes the ship look more detailed and more complex than many other Terran ships, including some of V's. I'de keep it the way it is. When could we see some ingame screenshots of these babies, shinemaps and all??

The orientation of most of those textures is vertical (hull plates and such) - I'd be interesed in seeing what it looks like with the more standard horizontal orientation. ;7

EDIT: Just browsing through some of your model threads, Raven... would the Calypso ship be a reworking of this:

It is completely apparent that the most recent model is optimized for HT&L. Sandwich, the one you have posted a pic about is probably an older one, when the idea of HT&L was not born.
In which thread did you see it? Has it been completed?

as always i cant fault your work Raven, everything you have done of late is so fresh and new (to me at least), the styling is excellent, and even if it doesnt properly stand in a capella era terran fleet, they manage perfectly well as a stand alone fleet ... if you get what im saying :)

Bobboau: could you make a custom texture to this one for me?? I would be much apreciated :)
