I was just tooling about with my computer when I thought to myself "why the hell do computers come with two floppy bays" surely I could understand why they would do this maybe 10-15 years ago, back when you had an a and b drive, but no (or few) mother boards suports two flopy drives any more. so is there any use for this opening other than to remind you how sentemental case designers are?

realy most if not all cases I've seen have two bays (only one of wich had a drive in it), I've never seen a (PC) case that had no floppy bay at all (though I'm sure there are quite a many)

Well, there are much more 3,5" devices than just floppy drives.

yeah, but there's a cradle for 5 3.5" hard-drives immediately below them..

I really feel the need to plop a 5" floppy in there, just for the sake of completeness

Might as well, that said - lately CPU fans are coming with 3 1/2 floppy sized power adaptors to change the speed on the fan. More handy than reaching around the back as well...
