Using a laptop LCD screen w/o laptop?
I recently got an LCD display screen from a Compaq Presario 1075. However, no laptop. Does anyone know a way to hook one up to a standard VGA port?

From this page it seems like the model number is LMJA53

I found some adaptors for other models on this site

:nervous: "Yes, hello? Compaq customer service? I think there are a few parts missing from my new laptop that just arrived..."

I haven't an idea other than the adaptors, but my question is how you came by this display in the first place. ;)

Basically, there was someone in the neighborhood getting rid of a bunch of computer stuff. I found the screen, saw that it seemed to be reasonably new and in good condition, and figured it should be possible to jury-rig it into a secondary LCD screen.

It was free, anyway - I talked with him and it turns out he was just cleaning stuff out.

Nuke: I think that's what the analog panel kits on that site are for.

Right... I wonder he was doing originally separating one from the other. ;) Oh well, hope you have luck finding a solution.

I think it's the enclosure, not sure if the adaptor board is included.

Incidentally, I just got a real laptop today. It was at a thrift shop, 50% off of $50 and seems to be mostly working.

Picture:

Specs:
Quote
486DX2/50
8 MB RAM (expandable to 20)
 200 MB HD
 Windows 95
 2 PCMICA slots
 2 PS/2 connectors
 1/4" floppy
 10 MBps PCMICA card
28.8 Modem w/ broken phone connector
 SVGA out
serial port, a big scsi thingy, and a serial/ or parallel port
 trackball spot
Battery that'll go for about 10 minutes, according to the laptop.

Phear! :p

Let's see someone get fs2_open working on this baby!

...No. Not the dedicated server version... :p

Good luck with getting the ded server working period.

Something that's  mobile is nice, but a broken batt. is pretty annoying. My laptop's battery can go up to 7 hours when using notepad, or 4 when using Word '02, Winamp, Excel, and Mozilla. But then, the whole thing is pretty modern.

[color=66ff00]I picked up an IBM Thinkpad T21 for £257 on Ebay, it's rather good, will soon be dual booting Gentoo and Win2k (for the odd game ;) ).

800MHz P3
128MB PC100 RAM
20 gig IBM Travelstar
DVD drive (w00t!)
Floppy drive
TV out (still have to get this working though)
Built in NIC/56K modem mini PCI combo.

Rather good.

Heh. I'm hoping I can run Tyrian, too. :D

Incidentally does anyone know of any good, small browsers I could install? Firefox and Thunderbird are pretty large, and Navigator 3 is pretty old. Preferably something besides Lynx and telnet. ;)
