For those of you who work in IT
Being an undergrad (going into honours) I am continuously amused by  the standards I see in the IT industry, here, abroad and I'm quite sure in alien civilisations across the universe. In the latest item to be highlighted, http://www.bcs.org/ebulletin/040707/law/ , the BCS points out how little managers know about IT Law.

So, how much do those of u in IT know here?

hehehehe Tell me about it, most companies don't have a clue about the content or requirements of the Data Protection Act. I might print this out and give it to my Boss actually ;)

I did a class in 2nd year that covered the ethical and legal issues of law.

Can't remember any of it, of course ;7

(edit - class not course)

[color=66ff00]Expecting the kind of people that rely on outlook express and IE to know this stuff?

Problems is theres Laws and Sub-Laws and Sub-clauses to Sub-Laws and By-Laws and Subclauses to By-Laws etc.

Nobody really knows what the rules are in the UK anymore, so the Police tend to react by decisively enforcing none of them :/ I'm not even sure who actually makes people aware of these laws, often companies only learn they exist when they are being taken to court :(

Since learning the laws became the responsibilty of the individual, the Lawmakes have been doing the Beaurocratic version of fretwanking :(
