Angle the bow upwards and add something on the up/down axis.

I say, swap the docking bay to the opposite side (bottom) of the tower, since it makes no sense to have the tower right in front of the docking bay entrance. (You could also stand to put the tower at the bottom instead.) Maybe jutting some big thrusters out from the sides at the rear would be nice too.  You could even make them look kind of like the wings of your fighter #2.

Nice work Swamp Thing, very nice indeed.

The second fighter reminds me of a TIE-fighter. And despite your changes I still think the cruiser/corvette still looks like a sub.

Nice work.

I will take the opportunity to mention that it is no where even NEAR of completion. These are possible changes, that´s all. The idea is seeing how it goes, judging every new addition, but not judge it as a complete model.

That depends. If i make it a cruise, there won´t be any fighterbay. Wich means the hole would be plugged in. If it´s a destroyer, the space between the hole and the tower is enough to fit a cruiser by, let alone a fighter, right?
So, it´s all in project stage yet. No final decisions made.

I might even just scrap the entire thing,  and start fresh. Can´t say i´m pleased with it, anymore than you guys...

I need a bit of advice here. Don´t know wich wing type looks better. I was building a vasudan fighter, but the end result looks a bit "terran", doesn´t it? Suppose i take all the weapons and missiles out, would it pass for a vasudan ship? With a vasudan texture?
And wich wing model do you think looks the best? I must have made 10 diferent ones...
Note that it is NOT finished. i just need a bit of advice on it, so that i can keep going at it.

And yes, they look "atmospheric", i know. But ships need to land in planets too, don´t they? :D

And while we´re at it,  the vasudans have cockpits too, right?
They fire missiles, and there aren´t many ways you can place missiles in a ship without making it look "terran", are there? Unless we have them spawn the missiles in mid space, as the shivans do...
It seems to me that missile pods and stuff are not species typed, but more a universal thing. There´s no way around it. A missile is a missile, and it needs a launcher.  If the shivans or vasudans  fired plasma bolts or something, instead of missiles, then we could do something diferent as their launchers.  But as long as they use terran type ordenance, there´s not mush we can do, design wise.

Er....would it not be a good idea to actually texture one of these sometime?

NB: Vasudans you can place missiles as sort of being 'ingrained' into the ship, like fired through slits in the hull rather than flat launchers like in most(all?) Terran ships.  Good way is simply to got for an organic approach - imitate stuff like eyesockets, mouths, er, 'orifices' for that sort of thing.

In erms of guns, you've got pretty much infinite freedom, because FS tech can be made vague for that sort of purpose.  Plus there's no reason for not hiding the barrel in the ship structure, ala on modern jetfighters (the wee sunken side guns on the nose of an F-16, etc, IIRC).  Of course, big barrels tend to look cooler......

Think that looks 'modern' Terran, i.e. with a hint of the Vasudan smoothness coming in.  Possible a Ulysses replacement (which would be #2)

I'd say the capship should be a cruuiser, it would seem more like cruisers have become mainly Command Support Vessels and thus would have a fighter bay, while corvettes are brawny warships.
actualy, mabye not.

Whew... finished the Cap ship. Gonna make it a corvet, as it looks a lot more buffed now.Moved the fighterbay to the belly of the ship, just behind that lower carriage thingy, there.
Just need to model the turrets, and pof it. As for textures, someone will come along to do them. :D

I really like the port/starbord BFG-ish gun banks. Those look soo cool.

I must say though, it looks a little strange to have that radar that is all individually modeled, and then the back end that is just one step beyond a cube. I guess what I'm trying to say, is that the fins look like they need a little "beefing up" in the back with details & such.
