Huge, ineffectual protests make me proud to be a white middle-class coward.
I live outside of DC and personally the quacks that come up to DC then light a pile of tires on fire in protest of the IMF, really are no better than those whom they are protesting. When you damage public property spit on police officers, disrupt traffic and attempt to block the interstate you have become everything you hate.

Don't get me wrong those who choose civil disobedience are just and heros in my mind regaurdless of what they are protesting. But...

Government is the great fiction through which everybody endeavors to live at the expense of everybody else.

(the below apply only to US politics, by the way).

liberalism = The practice of making the sucessful feel guilty

neoliberalism = The practice of making the sucessful feel guilty while having a master's degree in Art History, a nose-ring, and a job pouring overpriced coffee for a living.

conservativism - The art of making the underpriviledged feel irrelevant.

neoconservativism - The art of making the underpriviledged work for piss wages for the sucessful, with a nice, healthy dose of veiled bigotry on top.

It's always the lesser of two evils, isn't it?

See ionia, when you say something like this, I get the image of you holding prayer sessions 3 times a day with a big picture of Ayn Rand hanging above the altar.

I know you're taking a dig, but that's good :).

Believe it or not, I didn't come to the political conclusions I have by listening to "2112".

That is the neo-cons stated objective. Bush is one of them. Most people are only too blind to recognize it.
"The reason for this is that the original Fortran got so convoluted and extensive (10's of millions of lines of code) that no-one can actually figure out how it works, there's a massive project going on to decode the original Fortran and write a more modern system, but until then, the UK communication network is actually relying heavily on 35 year old Fortran that nobody understands." - Flipside
