KOTOR- Which one is better?
I just got KOTOR 2... hooray! But I was wondering, which KOTOR do YOU like better? 1 or 2? And why? Post away...

KOTOR- Which one is better?
KotOR 1 had a good story/plot and cool characters. The Sith Lords had a story that seemed like a rehash of the original's and the majority of the characters were gay or stupid or both. Not to mention I found the Sith Lords extrememly buggy. The Sith Lords was also extremely easy. The only thing I like about Sith Lords was bronze lightsabers (red with yellow core).

silver lightsabers are gay

KOTOR- Which one is better?
The Sith Lords has a storyline that is much more adult and mature in nature that expands upon the story of the previous KOTOR and also develops its characters much more fully.

Evidence? In the original, Malak is just a crazed loon with a lightsaber who runs around blowing stuff up in a cliched and boring manner. Come the sequel, with a bit of creative supposition you can turn him into a character just short of tragic-hero-hood.

KOTOR- Which one is better?
I don't really know.  Kotor1 was a great game, and Kotor2 was 75% of an absolutely awesome game.  Shame about that last 25% which just feels not done though.

Just be aware that Kotor2 has the trademark "Everybody must suffer" of a chris avellone game.

IF Obsidian had been given time to finish KOTOR 2 the way they intended it to finish, it would have been headlong over the first one.

The state it was released however, it is a bit inferior to KOTOR. Mostly due to bugs, and the stupid conclusion. And nothing ruins a good experience better than a bad ending.

Any hope still out there for Obsidian managing to at least fix the problems, if not add in the missing areas?

well, their website does say, that a patch is coming, soon.

As for the missing areas and endings, they pretty much admitted to being ass****ed by LucasArts on their forums, apologised, and said that even though their anuses hurt, LA can keep on trucking.

In short, the ending will stay the same.

KOTOR1 is better polished.

However KOTOR2 is a definately darker, more mature game and I personally like it better despite the rushed last hour or so of the game.

...and it does have Chris Avellone's "Mwuahaha! You suffer, your allies suffer, everything suffers!" mark on it. If I didn't know any better I'd say that Avellone's persona in Planescape: Torment was Ravel, and in KOTOR2 it's Kreia.

Overall though, KOTOR1 was a one trick pony plot wise. KOTOR2 is more subtle, telling you things that you'd expect would be saved as plot twists early but having events in the game lead to unforseen circumstances. Both are good games though, in different ways.

Anyway, KOTOR2 has silver lightsabers and:

KOTOR- Which one is better?
KoTOR 2 sucked me in as the first never did, but it seems shorter...it also had issues that made it easily possible to "break" several main quests. I still haven't seen the ending, but there's so much about the game that feels unfinished...and I felt that way standing aboard the Ebon Hawk right after taking off from the Telos Academy for the first time, very early in the game.

KoTOR 1 must therefore win out as providing a longer, more enjoyable if slightly less immersive experience.

If they had finished KoToR2, I'd have said that was best hands down - it's (as said) far more mature, far more morally ambigous, and interesting.

But I'd go with KoToR1; in some ways it's more Star-Warsy, it's fresher  (because a lot was revisited in KoToR2 IMO; Dantooine, Korriban, Taris=Telos pretty much...whereas all in KoToR1 was new at the time), and most importantly it's complete - it doesn't have the same hollow 'this is it' feeling as the sequel.

Inicidentally, whilst KoToR1 is a lot more simplistic story wise, I felt it had a more fun story......

After meeting Atris, Bao-Dur will tell you what parts you need to make one. Once you have the parts, he'll check out that they're all good, and then you assemble your saber.

...and no that pompous ***** doesn't give you your saber back. (what's with the damn word filter?)

Well Nihilus couldn't do much to the Exile, since the Exile wasn't a Force user but a wound.

Nihilus would be able to kill... well everyone else in Starwars with a thought though.

If you also noticed, Nihilus was wounded when trying to drain the Exile. Which is why the fight was so easy.

Avellone likes writing uber-munchkin characters like Vhailor, The Nameless One, Ravel... :)

Yeah, it was a bit lame that the engine doesn't allow for hooded robes, and that you couldn't wear the mask. Otherwise it'd be fun to run around in that getup.

If that's true, why did Visas tear him to shreds? I barely got the chance to do anything to the guy...

Allright, get this - the story, after the first 3/4 of the game SUCKS...BIG TIME

Darth Nihilus was ruined, and the game with that "wound in the Firce" crap and "true Sith, battle beyond the rim" and oter crap.

Go to www.starwarsknights.com
They are making mod to bring the game back in shape.

Did you know that in the game files there is the Droid Factory level (99% complete) and hordes of other stuff (dialogs, sound files, an joinable NPC - Atris, cuscenes scripts)
Modders there are trying to bring that back into the game, and there are allready MOD with new planets and stuff...

Oh..
