Ok. So I've been buried in tables and effects for the past year and a bit, and as such havn't had the chance to make my own ship for a long time.

So whats the deal nowadays?
I don't suppose things have gotten any more simpler at all?

My ears twitched when I heard something about a Max exporter? Is this some type of max -> pof / cob or something?

Is the process still the same?

-Model in max
-Texture in Truespace (or can i do it in max now?)
-Save cob, use POF Conversion Suite
-Tables
-Mission

I'm going to browse the Wiki, but that's hardly been a reliable source of information of late thus this thread exists.
But where would one gain all the latest builds of everything?

Thanks in advance. :)

Hm. You shouldn't need to make as much interface art as originally. FSO can now show the .pof instead of the ss_ani in the ship selection, and the same in the weapons selection (so you shouldn't need loadout pics). It's triggered by a command line parameter though, and I don't know what it'll do if that command line parameter isn't used and those files (loadout pic, ss_ani) don't exist.
I don't remember the command line parameter though - search it in the SCP's recent builds forum.

The things you mentioned should mostly have kept the same, though.

[edit: Oh, and there's a topic about some MAX exporter... didn't read it though, as I use tS for modeling anyway - well, if I get the time for it that is :( ]

Will do a bit more searching for the max exporter. That would be a damn lifesaver that. :D
Thanks for the info. :)
