Independence War 2 - Hints required
I've been given an assignment where I have to "borrow" some cargo from a transporter ship and it's being closely guarded by 3 cruisers.

I have as a ship, the one which is given in the beggining of the 1st act.

The last time I encountered these 3 cruisers (which were the same aparently) they were escorting from afar (over 15km) and so I was given enough time to make the transporter dump it's cargo and docking with it. Now the problem is that the cruisers are escorting the transporter at a really close distance (less than 3km) and if I start shooting at one of them or at the transporter, I instantly get multiple shots from the cruisers and die.

I tried to dogfight the cruisers, but they seem to be able to get all of their turrets to bear and blast me.

Any hints on how to get that cargo?

I've never had much success with that particular mission.  Occasionally I've been able to get the cruisers after me with a few potshots, then LDS away then come beack for the frieghter.  It's very hit or miss though.

Usually though, I just ignore it completely.  It's totally optional, the reward isn't a big deal, and you'll almost certainly make more money skulking around L-points for suckers, and it's the money that makes the plot 'go' at that point.  Just need to make enough to get another important mission.

I don't really remember much about IW2 anymore... If I'm thinking of the correct mission here, then you should be able to lure the cruisers away from the transport and then quickly get back to the transport once cruisers are far enough.

I think I just killed the cruisers by getting in their blindspot and hitting them... or is that another mission?

Have you got the turret fighters yet? They are quite handy as extra guns. You might need to wait until you get some gatling cannons from one of the later missions...
Just try some general piracy and open up some more missions, then go back for it.

for all the times i played IW2 i never had to do that mission.

probably the best idea is to get gatling cannons and then get right behind the cruisers.  Mining beams probably would also work well

I managed to make passes at the transporter so it dropped it's cargo... then I proceeded to play chicken with the cruisers until they got bored and followed the transporter home.
