I doubt they'll do the Holodeck thing. That would just ruin the entire concept of Star Trek.

I knew about Future Guy...but I have no inklings as to who he actually is.  I read once that he was "someone we knew" but I have no idea if that was true or ever followed through with.  I guess it never will be.

I'm a little worried about this last episode...we'll see how it pans out.

it was at this point in the thread that I felt a great and terable sence of hollowness and forbodeing welling up within me. I have never fully grasped the evil that the B&B dioctorate of doom represented, honestly I liked the whole time war thing. but this... this is a horror that I canno.. I cannot fathom. how is it physicly posable for an idea to be so bad!? I turely fear that this may cause a rupture in the space time continum destroying all life in the universe, this must be made to end before it has a chance to anialate all that is good and pure. this is horable. it feels like the "last" eppisode of farscape, were it's like someone in charge was intentionaly trying to hurt the fans with just an insulting finalie.

I must be missing the reference here. Are you guys hinting at the old hope (turned dread with Season 3 and then Manny Coto) that Enterprise is just a holodeck program? If so, what's that got to do with Riker and Troi?

"...The quintessential quality of our age is that of dreams coming true. Just think of it. For centuries we have dreamt of flying; recently we made that come true: we have always hankered for speed; now we have speeds greater than we can stand: we wanted to speak to far parts of the Earth; we can: we wanted to explore the sea bottom; we have: and so  on, and so on: and, too, we wanted the power to smash our enemies utterly; we have it. If we had truly wanted peace, we should have had that as well. But true peace has never been one of the genuine dreams - we have got little further than preaching against war in order to appease our consciences. The truly wishful dreams, the many-minded dreams are now irresistible - they become facts." - 'The Outward Urge' by John Wyndham

"The very essence of tolerance rests on the fact that we have to be intolerant of intolerance. Stretching right back to Kant, through the Frankfurt School and up to today, liberalism means that we can do anything we like as long as we don't hurt others. This means that if we are tolerant of others' intolerance - especially when that intolerance is a call for genocide - then all we are doing is allowing that intolerance to flourish, and allowing the violence that will spring from that intolerance to continue unabated." - Bren Carlill

Don't read this below unless you really want to. Meh, the episode is flawed from within, so it probably won't hurt either...

Spoiler:

"Six years in the future, an emotional Captain Archer and the crew return to Earth to face the decommission of Enterprise and signing of the Federation charter, ratifying the newly-formed alliance of planets they helped forge."

These events will be shown as a holodeck simulation, which is viewed by Troi and Riker on the future Enterprise-D. Plus the episode involves the loss of a major crew member.

It's probably best to consider Enterprise over with "Terra Prime".

Except shouldn't the Earth-Romulan Wars occur before the founding of the Federation?

Unless the war occured during the six years after Enterprise. In that case NX class ships were the main vessels used? (if Enterprise is just now being decommissioned)

B&B had no real plan for him from the start, it was a dead-end plot line. So Manny Coto did the best possible : he ended the temporal cold war after the first two episodes of season 4. Just stopped the plot line, thus allowing for some more "progressive" (read : better) stories to be told.

Edit : see Storm Front, Part 1&2.
