Well, just some things I'd like to see (if they aren't too much trouble to the coders :) ) :



- better behaviour of fighter-beams, i.e. Warmup, BeamLife, Warmdown and Fire-Wait
       (I don't think it's implemented already, but correct me if I'm wrong) :
Warmup should start once the player presses the trigger and only if Fire-Wait has elapsed since the end of the last warmdown-phase. Beam-Life should start being counted once warmup is complete. Fire-Wait starts once a warmdown-phase ends.
Possibly (?) most complex part: Warmdown starts whenever (a) Beam-Life ends or (b) player releases the trigger while in Warmup or Beam-Life.
Of course "cycle" should also be held compatible with it.

- cloak, if it's ever going to be implemented ...  :(

- a small (??) overhaul of the comm-system:
Add a pre-stage to the current menu. With this you could handle lotsa things with the comm-system; so if you press 'C', a list different to the current one pops up with '1' being the current list. I.e. for 'all fighters disarm my target', you'd have to press C-1-3-3 instead of C-3-3.
The advantage would be that there'd be 90 free key combinations that could be used for miscellaneous things, like giving commands to a battlegroup (not in FS, but remember Darth Vader and several other Jedi/Sith [SW] or Prince Thrakkath and his cousin [WC] flying their personal fighters?), commanding your turrets incase you fly a capship, controlling transformations if your ship can do so (an example would be the Nephilim's interceptor in WCProphecy), control more complex tertiaries, give your wingmen advanced orders (concerning cloaking, for example), ....
Actually I think this has quite a lot of potential and would be worth it getting used to pressing one more button per order. :D  The question would be how hard it is to code something like that...



So what do you think - will any of these get into the SCP within the next 2 years or so ? :confused:
(no insult implied - I'm deeply impressed at what the SCP already has achieved)

I wonder if a pseudo-cloak could be achieved with creative SEXPing and animated glowmaps...

Don't the beams already behave like that for the most part? It seems like when I cheat and load up quad BGreens on my Erinyes, the things take a specific time to warm up, fire, and cool down. I'm thinking the only thing that would need to be done here would be to implent the same time between shots that the capships have. I wonder how easy this would be.

You can use shift+d and then choose to who and/or which team you wanna ask to.
There are many of these shortcuts :)

For beams, I'd like to see the ability to set beam duration to "-1" for certain player fighter-mounted beams, which would result in the beam firing until either A- the energy supplies of the firing ship are depleated, or B- the player releases the fire button.  Right now you either have to set the beam duration realy short which results in a pulsing beam, or set it longer than the player might want to fire it for.

Damn... - you're right. :nervous:
I really forgot this. Somehow I'm used to using the comm system.


On the beams:
Ok, maybe it's just me using too old SCP builds. :( With 3.5.5 they didn't do this. On my new PC I installed 3.6.0 but so far it refused to work with my mod (suppose I'll have to search for some files that went on holiday...), and so it even could've already been fixed by then - don't know.
And Annorax - I meant real moding, not cheating; these might result in different behaviour (since BGreens for example don't have player related flags/whatnot; I'm not sure though).

So well, if it already works, then I'm happy. :dizzy: :dizzy: :dizzy:



Still, any feedback from the coders about the comm idea? I'd like to see it implemented.
