Its exactly that, would it be possible to do a FS2 mod for I-War 2? I-War 2 has many good qualities wich would fit well with the FS universe, of course there is the different flight mode but it would still be acceptable, its not that hard to fly a ship like that. Plus, I-War 2 gives a better sensation of you being in a system than FS2, you really can see that they are huge. All in all, it would turn out to be great , what say you?

I-war has a reputation for being hideously difficult to mod though.

I would love to see it though. I did enjoy the game (mostly) when I played it.

As far as I know doing the same for FS is difficult too. :P

But really, as an example, there are B5 modded ships for it.

Offhand..... I-War 2 only supports ships made (conversion wise) in Lightwave.  Another problem was IIRC that it only supported certain kinds of UV mapping, so anyone trying to convert FS2 models would need to remap them in a rather funky manner.  I think there were also problems regarding tiling maps, too.....

Most anyone ever did was, IIRC, Phreak putting in an unmapped Apollo.

I would be all for an IWar2/FS2 mod.  I think there are a couple of IWar2 mod repositories floating around the internet somewhere.  I was checking them out because I have just started playing it again.  (My computer doesn't seem to like the 3.6.9 SCP build, so it's probably time to clean out the FS2 directory...again.)  I'll go find some links to some IWar2 mods.  Some people have stated it's wasy to mod if you know a few tricks.  Maybe you could use those existing mods as templates?

This year, both Groundhog Day and the State of the Union Address occurred during the same week.  This is an ironic juxtaposition of events--one involves a meaningless ritual in which we look to a creature of little intelligence for prognostication, while the other involves a groundhog.

Yep, but not only ships, there are some B5 missions, but I've got some trouble. Here the website (project Buda5)

If I-War2 proves tricky to mod for you, consider X3-The Reunion. I've been playing it a fair bit lately and it's a really good game if you can get into it.

That is of course just my opinion ;)

That said it has a graphically superior engine to IW2 (more demanding mind you) and is apparently simple to mod for the most part.

I agree, X3 is easy to mod compare to I War 2. But not so easy as Fs2 , hehe ^^

Considering that there is a B5 TC for both I-War and I-War2, it is possible but difficult.

Why would we want all that trouble of modding FS to some crappy other engine? FS2 engine is the moddable engine of the millenia! Let us Freespace mod for SCP!!! :D

If you want to play FS2 with newtonian physics an I-War II mod is probably the best direction to take.

Of course you'd probably get halfway through and then have someone make newtonian physics work in FS2_Open :)

Actually there already is something like that if I recall. THe fact is I dont want to make the mod, I just giving the idea (I have absolutely no idea how to mod in the first place, if I did then maybe I'd do that).
