Actually those fighter-drones should be kamikadze, small (around 5-meter), fast, with large payload. They would have enough power to bring down heavy bomber. Heavier, 20-meter version would be used in anti-cap attacks.
If in your opinion there's no difference beetwen "Master Game" and "Game Master", I can only feel for you.

You just described a Trebuchet and a heavy anti ship torpedo ;)

That's what I thought. I was thinking something small and reasonably fast carrying a subach. Something that on it's own would be irritating but when you have a whole bunch of them launched at you they become a threat. You could even do fancy things with the launch mechanism. Firing them out of launch tubes. Maybe even using a mass driver mechanism to fling them large distances. There's no pilot to squash with the G forces so why not.

Yup, TI has drone carriers, they just aren't flown by anyone you've met :)

How powerful are the guns on the Amazon drones used in the training missions? A few of those at once, no problem. Fifty at once...

Beam Turreted 'Gunboat'

Looks a lot like the pulsar gunship from HW2...

I also made a gunship craft mounting a beam cannon.  Would show image, but Imageshack is being a pain and not showing the image... :hopping:

At least a HL-7 is more of a threat than an X3 IRE... you could have, like, 50+ drones attacking a single M3-class fighter, yet all you did was trap him in one place for hours because you're doing nothing but throwing pebbles at the feller's shielding... LOL... and to top it all off, those drones will eventually run out of juice... big waste of credits IMO...

Re: Has anyone ever modded any of these ships?
If I recall correctly, I put two version of my Lightbringer bomber on Hades COmbine - both have beams, but by one version it's a front turret, and by another once it's a special gun bank that can only fit that beam cannon...

Re: Has anyone ever modded any of these ships?
Though one will probably need to do a feature request for them to work properly on fighters... especially when it comes to getting the weapons to obey the refire rate, range and energy consumption levels... Maybe a new weapon tag "fighterbeam" perhaps?

:doubt:
It's just a matter of doing the math.  I made these once to reproduce the damage levels of the Subach and Mehku.  It worked perfectly.

To make your own, read ZylonBane's beam FAQ to learn how beams work, then compare these fighter beams to the original weapons to see what I had to do in order to make them.

Re: Has anyone ever modded any of these ships?
The Freespace 2 Beam Reference? I ref'd that one for pretty much all of the beam weapons that I did (in addition to table-borrowing ).

I'm still stumped on the issue of energy consumption though. My energy levels don't go down no matter how many times I fire off the beam... but again, it was just a quick test of sorts, so I may not look that deep into fighterbeams unless I can find a way to incorporate them in what I'm doing...

I'm also starting to think about sticky beams aka MW4-styled lasers... (The regular pulse ones will stay with FS2 physics though, I don't wanna make the pulsies sticky... :shaking: XD)

:doubt:
