I saw it on a TV channel here for a minute, thought it was cheesy and didn't watch any further

Kara is correct. You majorly missed out on a well done, reasonably realistic military Sci-Fi show. Not quite as dark and moody as BSG, but certainly dramatic and reasonably intelligent, plus it's fairly Low Tech - the boon of every science fiction watcher in history (since it requires the focus to be on the characters and on the military situations rather than the deflector grid). Killing it after 1 season might not have been quite as cruel and undeserved as Firefly's 14 episode run, but it's probably second place in terms of Sci Fi series that really, really shouldn't have been canned.

Re: Just finished watching an old sci-fi show
That's one of the few Sci-Fi shows that have actually aired around here. I rather liked it - The special effects suck by todays standards, but if you can look past that it's a very good show. I can see how the first episode or two might seem a bit cheesy though, but that's because they're introducing a load of characters... it gets better fast.

I read a book of that series: Demolition Winter. Thought it was very well done indeed. Never saw the show... maybe I should attempt to find some videos of it?

Yep, the pilot episode and the first few episodes weren't spectacular. But episodes like "River of Stars" or "The Angriest Angel" have a certain poetic beauty in their writing.

I watched the pilot years back when it aired. I decided it was balls.

IIRC someone was making a mod for it. Dunno what happened to it though...

And yea, the only thing I remember about that show was the really bad marine suits - the plastic jump suits that had nothing at the bottom and a ton of gear at the top.

Re: Just finished watching an old sci-fi show
DiamondGeezer was making a mod but it turned into a ****storm of accusations from the Homeworld mod that he was using the models from their mod (Which was true) and that he wasn't allowed to use them (As far as I can tell, false since none of the people complaining actually made the model either).

The saddest thing is that there are only at most 7-8 models you'd need for a SAAB mod and we already have some of those ready to go.

Thats very sad. Its a great show and I already discussed that thing with DaBrain, he also showed me some pics of a Hammerhaead-model. It would be definitively a nice mod to create, especially as Space is as good as dead in TV...

Re: Just finished watching an old sci-fi show
I made a Hammerhead (well, partly) pre SCP, and at one point Omni was using it as a LOD2 or 3 for his own model.   And Max Sterling made one years ago, in the VBB days.
