No, but the guy who did those does (kinda).

He's actually pretty cool, gave me some tips on making asteroids in MAX.

So you know, Warlock, I'm going to start poly-stripping the Roon tonight. If you've not picked a name yet, I'll probably name her 'Waterdancer' (inspired by the Volition Bravos which led to the Braavosi Waterdancers of Martin's A Game of Thrones books).

Shrike, the reason those Zaon renders look so good is lighting, textures and greeblies. The overall modelling is good, but where they shine is good lighting and excellent textures (the textrues make them feel solid to me). Then to top it off, extensive use of greeblies gives them that 'hi tech' look. These guys must have a massive rendering farm, if they turn out stuff like this regularly: doing greeblies in geometry instead of texture is math intensive. *heh*

Lucas knew not what he wrought when he unleashed the Star Destroyer design upon the world.

It's a fact.  Stupid people have stupid children.  If you are stupid, don't have sex.  If you insist on having sex.  Have sex with animals.  If you have sex with an animal.  Make sure the animal is smarter than you are.  Just encase of some biological fluke you and the animal have offspring, they won't be as stupid as you are.   One more thing.  Don't assume the animal is protected.  If the animal has a condom, or if female some interuterian device, insist they wear it.  Help stop this mindless mindlessness.  Keep your stupidty to yourself.  This message was brought to you by the Committee of Concerned Citizens that are Smarter than You are.

*hrm* That's hard to say.

There's only six asteroids. Those were spheres that I hit with a randomizer and then smoothed. I keep them saved on my hard drive to boolean together into other asteroids. that was what? 10m we'll say.

The Waterdancer (the larger ship) took about three days to go from original slap up to completion. That's another thing that was laying around on my hard drive.

The Misatos (the fighters) were what prompted that pic. They were the fourth in a series of ships that all used some common elements (the Waterdancer was the second and the Molly was the fifth). Those took two days.

Setting up that scene took an hour or two. Maybe more. If I had done all that work in one shot, it would likely have taken me about 5-7 days. In reality, that scene was built over the course of a month (since everything was modelled in isolation with no scenes in mind).

Thanks, Thunder.

Venom, I'd give the Misato a better mapping if I had the skill. I'm 100% hopeless with textures (why do you think the Iwar2 Molly is flat shaded?   ). Seriously, I'm trying to learn so that I make these things look good.

If you look carefully, btw, the mapping on the fighters is the exact same one as on the Waterdancer itself.
