I think that's a tad unfair. They're definitely behind the SCP but they're not anywhere near as bad as his previous games.

I wonder if he fixed the damned boarding action system yet? The career mode for BC:M was unplayable because of it. Only the AI can board you, not the other way around. You can only tell your marines to look around, and they don't do it systematically or anything, because this is BATTLECRUISER MILLENIUM and not some namby-pansy game that makes sense. They also can't be ordered to secure the important parts of the ship, such as the hangerbays, engineering, or CIC, while they search, so you can have some damn idiot with a pistol waltz in and kill your bridge crew (yes, this actually happened to me attempting to do the first career-mode mission...well, he might have been a really smart guy with an assault rifle I guess), or sabotage your powerplant and make you explode, or kill the mission-critical passengers aboard...

...because the AI actually has a target priority thing and knows to go after stuff in order of mission-critical cargo/passengers, powerplant, bridge, and then launch bay to steal something and escape. All you have is a crappy search order crappily executed and prayer. The manual goes into detail about what the AI boarders will try to do and then how your people will respond when told to look for them.

But it doesn't see the forest for the trees, or it's pretending not to.

Umm.... in the view where he looks behind himself fom an in-cockpit viewpoint, and you can see the pilot model, WHERE THE HELL IS THE REST OF HIS SHIP??? I mean, is shows him flying some fighter, but then it all just disappears. In FS2, the glance back looks like its from a rear facing camera perspective, but this Echo Squadis just..... wow.  And am I seeing things, or does it look like the shockwave at 0:31 ish look chillingly similar to the ones we use now?

The cockpit is huuge and shakes excessively when shot at. You'd think the pilot shakes more than the cockpit, but oh well. The use of colours causes cataract. The shockwave is a ripoff (not that he'd ever admit it)...
