I'm unfortunately hopelessly addicted to Facebook. Being ~2000 miles from friends/family causes a dependancy on it though.

The emo part is again dependant on who you add. When people start posting poetic "why does my life suck asssss" crap I delete them.

Quite rightly so. Just to check, can anyone at all amend the group or do i have to grant some of you guys commissions? (What's with the officer terminology by the way?)

I kind of hate Facebook too, but it is a good way to stay in touch with people.

Come on. 85% of the time people use it either talk to people who they have no idea who are, or people who they could just walk down the street and say hi to.

True. Still, it's a pretty good homework destresser.

The other 15% really do need it, though. I live in California now, but all of my friends are at colleges in the midwest or East Coast. I've been keeping up with them through facebook.

Yeah, I use it to keep up with friends from high school who have gone on to other colleges. If I want to talk to strangers, I come here, and if I want to talk to people locally, I just call them.

I was dead set against having a Facebook account but I eventually signed up for one anyways.  I use it to talk to people that are otherwise difficult to keep up with.  Not everyone is a quick phone call away and friends are scattered across the globe so this seems to be the best way to do it. Plus the event organization is pretty nice.
