@tinfoil (and Edivad): OpenGL is a way that GPUs use to render stuff. The thing you posted is an API, which seems to be a GUI, a.k.a just shiny stuff. OpenGL is inside the video card drivers, similar to D3D. To get OpenGL, install new drivers.

ok, i updated the video driver downloading the last version i found on the IBM site...
However, there still seems to be no Open GL 1.2 (as the FRED-error log below shows)
now, i have a doubt... my laptop dates back to 2002... is it possible for such a thing to use the recent version of openGL?

EDIT: to the INFASA team members: the standard versions of FS SCP INF-ALLIANCE and INFRENO SCP were running fine... is the new FRED-INFASA so much different from the previous FRED-SCP???

Srsly, though. If the error persists even after updating the drivers, the only explanations are that either he managed to get yet another set of oldish drivers or the graphics card, lacking a better term, sucks. Tough luck. Either switch back to a working version of FRED or face the consequences.

Like I said, computer manufacturers do not usually update drivers. As a matter of fact, unless there is a serious bug or incompatibility problem in the drivers that the laptop was shipped with, it is unlikely new drivers will be released. This means Edivad probably installed same version of the driver he already had.

For laptops it is often only choice to get 3rd party modified drivers, like Omega Drivers I mentioned earlier. However, laptop specific features may not work with such drivers, including but not necessarily limited to power management, external displays and tv-out.

A similar scenario occured in another thread. Do make sure that you have a proper set of chipset drivers installed for your motherboard. Having none might hinder anything achieved with the graphics card.

They're custom-written and tweaked to performance prior to installation.  In some cases, they fix known manufacturer bugs.

Actually Omega Drivers have been traditionally tweaked for image quality. Unless that has changed in the last few years.
