Swanz is correct, i thought fs1 seems to be neglected and you all prove that by complaining its not an fs2o campaign. there is a third campaign also being considered, an extension of sorts to this campaign, the layout will use fs2o and its based on a civil war conflict between the TE and Luyten star system.

we are currently having a lot of fun thinking about that and the 2nd campaign, however we do require something important to give a greater experience for all three. i need a program that can edit texture files and know which gun ports belong where on which capital ship. it would help when it comes to fs2o for sure!. Thanks.

pcs2 allows you to look at .pof model files and examine turrets and special points as well as edit model attributes

any image editor should work for .pcx, but the gimp (and its windows port) as well as paint.net are free

i am no tech wizz, so i do not know what pcs2 is. would be a bit of help to know the full name thanks.

Released Background:

Earth, Jupiter Saturn war: 2305 A.D.

A dark day in the history of the Human empire, the Earth's 4th world war has ended only 3 months ago and Earth is in ruins, Jupiter has had it's 2nd world war while Saturn has been out on a limb trading for 10 years. While the economy of Earth is shattered with rampant inflation Saturn capitalized on a golden opportunity to offer aid at low cost, however Earth refused the offer because the economic status of earth would collapse after buying just 3 small aid packets!.

Saturn was now doing far more business with military partners that were loyal to Earth and Jupiter beforehand who have now abandoned their contracts. Shortly after the contract was signed, Earth became bitter at Saturn for reaping gain through a weakness which was forbidden up to that point in the Sol system assembly convention signed only 7 years ago. Saturn declared it's independence from the Human Empire after the contracts were signed. Soon enough Jupiter got wind of this news and reacted accordingly.

The 'Saturn Confederacy' was born on 22/02/2305. Shortly after all this Jupiter and Earth sent their spies into Saturn only to find out they were killed thanks to some shady informants high up in both parties. Things got even more tense when a Jupiter cruiser went missing while patrolling the edge of Saturn space and Earth found wreckage near the Mars border zone, it was an Earth destroyer and wreckage brought back to base seems to indicate a massive explosion before destruction, Jupiter was ruled out because Earth military officers know that it isn't the way of Jupiter's spies or military to do such a thing. The finger was now on Saturn.

At Station 'Abraham Lincoln' on 17/05/2307, a Saturn warship had a defective firing chamber, when a few minutes later while trying to leave an Earth controlled space station the ships reactor spiked and a turret went active!, the whole firing assembly went online. The firing chamber then misfired and the turret fired, the energy ball that was so concentrated and so highly charged that the nearby civilian convoy was destroyed, killing all 45,000 people on board. The civilian ships were from both Earth and Jupiter, both governments reacted with war despite their crippled states. Oddly enough however was that both these governments did not form any sort of partnership in fact despised one another.

When war broke out Saturn's outer defense lines where broken instantly from Earth's side, Jupiter's spies were making impressive inroads from withins Saturn's political structure, enough to make the military contractors think again about their contract with Saturn. After that Jupiter joined in to attack Saturn from three separate fronts. Soon enough a vital defense station the 'Weytan' was destroyed, with that done, Saturn's lines began to crumble and on 30/09/2307 Saturn surrendered to Earth control. Because Jupiter lost a lot of it's ships they also surrendered 4 months later to Earth control.

5 months after Jupiter surrendered, Argen Mizanso was sworn into office as Dictator on the new named Terran Empire, and Argen's first mission is what to do with the traitors to Earth. All people linked from Saturns military were flushed into space for betrayal to the Human empire, while all of Jupiter's people were forced into servitude on Io, Jupiter's satellite.

General, thank you for that obvious bit of info, however i will not change my mind on the subject, i am sorry. If your interested, let me and my team create it and then you play it, otherwise (without sounding harsh) please keep off .

PCS2 is POF Constructor Suite Version 2. It's in the SCP forum.

And use FS2 Open, it's way easier to mod.

For making and editing textures, use GIMP. (Google it)

looks like you will get your wish, i've just had to dump my old hdd as it just died. Beside that the whole situation of wheather to move the campaign to fs2o was a debated one between myself, Mahkat & Merktal. However Merktal raised an interesting point which gave the vote for it to move to fs2o.

Because i now have to start over and i also need to learn even more sexps, it might take my team a while to get to grips with it. TEU will be pushed back for now as the 2nd campaign is now our first priority (Serpentis Raider-Terran Empire war). Thank you for your time and patience.

Fso installer is taking a very long time to install the game... the possibility of delay is expected.

indeed a delay has been called.

i am running the very latest version of 3.6.10, i am amazed by the quality, i actually had problems with the retail on with both FS games with graphics more specifically the strange slow down with higher model detail or higher particles and that afterburner not working. Thats gone and then some more, i am running everything in the options on max settings without any frame rate drop.

as a side note, i am in the process of building a site for the projects my team are doing.

i finally got a look at FRED2 3.6.10 version even though it says 3.6.9 in the program window at the very top. i think i might just stick to original fred2. i don't like this camera changes as it's well off it's axis. the unit placement and selection is out of alignment also. i will see if their is anything that can be done to get around the problem.

I wont deny that there are minor problems with FRED2Open, especially stuff like the ship/name alignment, but they're easy to get usedf to and work around and the masses of new things you can do with it make it 1000% worth the effort.

im not denying that the fred2 3.6.10 is good or bad in general. but the real important part of fred2 3.6.10 is the problem. what i mean by the alingment is when you move the camera positions about, you try click the little model by for some reason the whole model seems to be somewhere else, if i am to create 30 missions in 3 campaigns with the other two guys i would not like to go through the process of "playing pin the tail on the donkey" or trying to guess where you can find a grain of salt on a sandy beach.. at least if i do it through fred 2 i would have half the most important stuff completed and the oher half could be done on 3.6.10, triggers events and such..

click and drag a box around the unit to select it, and then use the button that has a magnifying glass with a downwards facing triangle to zoom the camera to the ship
then it is easy to right click

selection boxes are useless unless you try the whole screen. i thank you for your concerns , however until this is sorted i will be on fred2.
