Dark Ages doesn't have as much BattleMech action, which to me is the definition of BattleTech ... Don't get me wrong, I enjoy the Dark Ages novels, but it seems that the Dark Ages was written to relate more to real world armies, with mostly tanks and armoured infantry making up the army.

tbh, it's always been this way. Consider: Comstar deployed fifty regiments to Tukkayid of BattleMechs, and over a hundred in supporting arms; the Com Guard's tankies and artillery played a larger role in stopping the Clan Invasion then their 'Mech forces did. Operation Bulldog was mounted with seventy-five BattleMech regiments and over two thundred and twenty-five regiments in supporting arms. The Clan focus on 'Mech combat was ultimately their Achilles' heel in a very real sense, as it proved very possible for the Inner Sphere to bury them under conventional armored vehicles.

You can put more guns in the field with tanks, but the BattleMech earned its title as king of the battlefield because it is ridiculously durable, ridiculously mobile, and ridiculously versatile in comparison. But the tank has its place. The 'Mechs can't be everywhere at once.

     Kristin Kreuk as Minmei? Bah. She's hot, but her character on Smallville is very annoying.

     And Nicolas Cage as Jet in Bebop? Gah. Man get Vin Diesel in there or something, I can't stand Cage.

Those are just suggestions. There are many, many thrown around the net once the word of a movie was out. And they started making lists for other movies too.

I agree that Kristin Kreuk wouldn't make a good Minmei. She doesn't have that girlish playful look. You should see the list of potential cast for Roy Fokker and Lisa Hays..I laughed. It's like age of the character and actor don't matter at all.

Actually, it was confirmed... was just on Robotech.com

Apparently WB is in on it and seems a lot of other big shots and companies are taking a interest too.
Looks like it will be set in the near future and will deal with the Mascross saga part.

       Well for one thing Minmei should actually be Chinese. Not some freakin white girl. Unless they intend to change the character names, but really the casts is predominantely white anyway so getting one non-american or one asian american to play Minmei wouldn't be too much of a stretch. Only young actress that comes to mind is Zhang Ziyi but I'm sure there's someone much more suitable.

Love the cast they picked. Elijah Wood as Shun and Joaquin Pheonix as Ikki? Perfect match. They even look they are related and Joaquin has that mighty murderous look needed for Ikki.
