I've set up wireless for my house which was pretty easy even with the router behind a router config I had to do.  Also set up wireless for a business before.  I've never set one up for public access at a business before.  The bar I go to has internet access and a 4 port router (no wireless support).  Since the router is in a utility closet clear at the back of the bar I figured it would be easier to just add an access point and put it close to the center of the bar up in the ceiling.  Anything special that needs to be done for the public using it compared to home use?

make sure no one connecting to the AP can access anything on the existing network.
i.e. firewall it.

Reminds me of the bar i go to all the time. They have wireless, but i've noticed it hasn't worked for like 3 months. Anything wired goes great though. I should see if they want me to fix it. I'll probably get several free drinks, or other cool things, like a computer (what happened last time when i backed up music for them from a hard drive that wouldn't boot for them). I also got free drinks a long with that.

Make sure it's cool bar. Of course tell them not to touch the equipment. I wouldn't be surprised if a bar tending yahoo who knew about the reset button on these things pushes it without thinking what it's actually going to do. This bar you're making this simple setup sounds like it doesn't need any documentation at all really. Wifi access point, router, bla bla bla, probably easily found too.

all of the above just make sure that no one can mess with the settings of the router or connection to the isp, after that its up too you weather you want to put an access code on it (my local bar has a usb thumbdrive with the code on it then you just cut and paste it in and it works )

but all in all the more free internet that is out there the better.......

Well mostly he want's it setup so that business people coming in for lunch can access the web.  Anything beyond that is a bonus.  I would have done it years ago but I go to the bar to get away from my computers for awhile.  With wireless I'll end up sitting at the end of the bar with a laptop I know it.

There are only 2 devices on the existing network.  One is the camera system which is web accessible if you have the password.   The owner can sit at home and watch the bar if he wants.  The other one and more important is the Credit card system.  Hopefully that is secured already.
