Can AVI movies be converted to an ogg format?
Is it a direct conversion or do the movies need to be completly redone?
What program do you use to create or convert to ogg format?
Normal people believe that if it isn't broke, don't fix it. Engineers believe that if it isn't broke, it doesn't have enough features yet.

1. Can AVI movies be converted to an ogg format?
2. Is it a direct conversion or do the movies need to be completly redone?
3. What program do you use to create or convert to ogg format?

1. Yes.
2. I think it's a matter of encoding the audio into the OGG format and then placing each frame into the file (or something like that).
3. I don't think I'm the most qualified to answer that one.
Who uses forum signatures anymore?

Errrm. Where do you see a double post? These are two different, yet related questions....

As for programs to use, I use Handbrake. It can encode to ogg, just remember to set the video codec to Theora.

Actually it wasn't a double post.  I just asked in TBP if they were going to convert the avi files to ogg.  I put this post in because I want to see if I can convert the Lightning Marshall avi files to ogg.  Thanks for the information I'll see if I can figure the program out.

Use Super. It can convert just about any audio or video format there is.

For FSO, the audio codec needs to be Vorbis, and the video codec needs to be Theora, in an OGG capsule.  VirtualDubMod can probably do it too, but probably needs external codecs to be installed.  It's a really powerful program though.
