Otherwise... it ROCKS!!! :)

Yeah, I know you were waiting for a very nice sig, in which I was quoting some very famous scientist or philosopher... guess what?!? I wont indulge you...

Why, you ask? What, do I look like a Shivan to you?!?

I know what that looks like!!! Has anyone played The Dig? It's a Lucas Arts game. When you land on the alien planet and go to the left you see a crashed ship that looks just like that!
I'll think of a siggie later..

I can't possibly hope to remember something like that... But I still want to play that game again. :)
Probably away. Contact through email.

Great design :)

Have you considered trying to use a bunch of 'hand made' maps on it, though - like on the Fenris / FS1 cruisers and transports?

i think that would be pretty cool - especially if it's a relatively small ship :)

I have that game and have played through it many times; you're right, it does somewhat resemble that ship. ;)

Thats a great model, Ryx.

No Poly-fy it! :)

I'll try.

Hi-poly never turns out good for me, eventhough the details are just extrusions and stuff.

Maybe a marine transport, or a boarding craft of some kind.  The :V: transports never quite seemed right for the purpose of delivering a capture team to a destroyer, as they are far too small, and this thing would work well for the purpose.
who needs a signature? ;)

There's nothing wrong with it. needs cockpitt, though. Assuming it's not a cruiser, you'll need to remove a few weapons. But it's your ship, do as you like.

I like the design man! It rocks! But I think it does not look like a colony ship to me. Maybe something like a strike cruiser or an interceptor.

But I have another idea. You know those Star Wars books sometimes refer to another kind of X-Wing which has no weapons at all? Instead, it is loaded with all kinds of advanced sensor equipment and stuff? This ship could be it! It is built like an interceptor but has lots of sensor equipment onboard. Great for recon missions. It can be set to be a mission critical craft in FreeSpace 2. Load it up with hell of a lot of countermeasures and give it medium grade shields and ultra fast engines and you will have phased out those stupid AWACS craft which sit around pretty, waiting for some hotshot Shivan to blow it up!!!:D

This idea occurred to me, as well. One I quite like.

Looks like it uses lots of polys and if my Stinger is any indication it might be a mess to do geometry fixes on. (If your modeler allows non-planer faces and doesn't provide an easy way to fix them.) A bit too smoothed for me. And I wouldn't build the turrets and stuff right into the model base object, you'll just have to cut them off again later. I think that sort of thing is one of the main reasons why turrets (including non-moving turrets) usually protrude from the hull rather then be indented into it like those indentations on the nose. :) The inset turrets on the rear dorsal region could work but you'd probably have to limit their FOV a bit so the ship doesn't hit itself. (Or so it won't fire through itself.) How many polys does that model use anyways?

Polys?  God only knows.  It's made out of NURBs curves.  :D  Yeah, I realize it's uber-overpowered as far as weaponry goes, though that isn't to say it can be used all at once without blowing the reactor.  As for the cockpit, well, I think it looks better without one.  I'll just say it uses optical sensors to relay data to the pilot instead.  :D
