Oh I see. So its actually the opposite of what I thought Foprce Speed does.
Oh yeah. I still can't beat the computer in lightsaber dueling. I mean, when the computer opponent strikes the first time, I can block it. Then the computer follows it up with another strike and he kills me. I thought I can block unlimited times?! Why is this happening?
Force Speed in single player keeps you at the same speed (roughly) while slowing down the rest of the world. The net result is that you have more time to react to things happening - it's as if you were sped up. If it simply made you move faster, all it would accomplish is getting you from point a to point b faster, but it wouldn't help the player to react to the world any better. Unfortunately, the only good way to implement force speed in multiplayer is to do just that - speed up the player (after all, you can imagine what kind of havoc it would wreak on player-synch if the world slowed down for one player while running at full speed for another. [grin]).
Secondly, your blocking ability is based on how many points you have in the skill of Saber Defense. There is no "limit," per se - but you'll miss some attacks when you're below 3 points in Saber D. Also, it helps A LOT to be facing directly into the attack when it comes. The more points you have in Saber D, the more you can face away from an incoming attack and still be protected, but facing the attack is always helpful.
Nextly, dodging the sniper disruptor blasts can be easily accomplished by having 3 points in Force Seeing and using it. Whilst Force Seeing is active, you will have a danger sense that will allow your character to automatically dodge incoming sniper shots - no deflection necessary. I have yet to actually see this in action (I rarely put points into Force Seeing), but that's what the manual says.
And finally, there are three "stances" of lightsaber combat, affected by pressing the "L" key (default binding - I also bound it to my middle mouse-button). The blue stance is the "fast" stance. While in that stance, you can make very quick, close, weak attacks. The range is short, the power isn't there, but you can pound mercilessly (think Luke right before and as he cut off Vader's hand in RotJ. Well, not exactly, but kinda like that. Ish. Sorta.). The "yellow" or standard or medium combat stance is just that - it gives you medium range, medium power, and medium speed. I think there's a cap to the number of moves you can chain together too. Thirdly is the "red" or slow stance. It gives you extreme range, excellent power (some are one shot kills), but at a sacrifice of speed. Also, while you're attacking, you're wide open to take a hit. You have a long windup and a very long follow-through, but if you can connect, you do serious damage. Fighting on the power stance requires extreme skill.
I hope this clears up any and all remaining questions? (-:
