I'm very confused here. At the beginning of the Main FreeSpace Campaign (FS1) there are 3 Jump Nodes! Very interesting!
I have big plans, now if only I could see them through.

yes there was. But :v: 'forgot' that in FS2. To make the story more consistent.

best explanation (consistent with storyline) is that the other two had become so unstable that they don't even register anymore, while the third one is just unstable...

That's not official though.
It came from outer space! What? Dunno, but it's going back on the next flight!

They probably just lead to systems that weren't connected to the rest of the node network, either dead-end systems or somewhere where they can't find any nodes to the rest of the GTVA space.

Nothing to be confused about, it was an error.  The animations were completed before the final storyline was, and they forgot to take those extra nodes out.  As far as the FS is concerened, they don't and never did exist.

Do you mean 3 jump nodes from Sol?

I think it is rather odd that there's only one.  Not all the jump nodes are displayed, anyway; for example, "There
are dozens of star systems of the Ribos subspace node" according to a Command Briefing from FS, but only two (Antares and Ikeya) are shown on the FS Subspace Node map I have.

Ah, those forgotten systems in FS2, Antares, Beta Cygni, Ribos, Ikeya... Those creepy systems with the FS1 music of doom.

That sounds reasonable to me. Jump nodes are said to be constantly forming and dissipating, and the GTA never really used those jump nodes extensively, so they might have been unstable nodes but that were still stable enough to show on the official maps.

One of those jump node goes to Beta Aquilae while the other one goes either to Regulus or off the map. (this was seen in the FS1 briefing movie)

As far as the Shivans are concerned, it's a bit confusing how they could appear in several systems in FS1 and why they had to wait for Bosch to activate the Knossos in FS2.

The only reason they went after us in FS2 is we entered their space.

I thought the Shivan force in FS was basically a scouting party.  If this is so, it would make sense that it was seperated from the main Shivan armada.  Maybe the Shivans just never got around to checking out this part of space between FS and FS2?

Yeah, he's right, the intersystem jumpnodes depend on gravity, as plannets and magnetic fields move, node colapse and form.

Plus what Eishtmo said...

I think V did not spent too much time to establish the theory how the Shivans can travel between systems.
FS1 suggested that they could easily travel without stable nodes.
But of course if they travelled freely, the GTVA were doomed.
So V limited them in FS2, or at least that's my feeling.
Anyway each stories ended with the GTVA sealing their systems by destroying nodes.
Interesting.

right... right... right... here i go.

The three jump nodes in Sol in FS1 led to Alpha Centauri, Sirius, and Delta Serpentis. However, if the three-jump-node-in-a-triangle Alpha Centauri only led to Vasuda, Sirius, and Aldeberan, wouldn't the Terran assault on Vasuda during the 14-year war be easier?

Also, it's possible that the subspace cataclysm completely isolated Sol, collapsing all three of the nodes supernaturally.

Axem - Sorry to post again when I said I was leaving for good, but something was nagging me. I don't want to say it in a way that shames the campaign but I think we can all agree it is actually.. incomplete. It is missing... Voice Acting.

But it would have been equally as easy for the vasudans to assult sol, so the stalemate between the two arrose.

If you were travelling into uncharted space and didnt know what nasty race of bipeds (vasudans ofcourse) was lurking there, im sure you'd rather have a powerful ship like the lucy on your side.
