When i was a jobless ****. My dynasty was fine to deal with and fill up since i didn't use it all that often. Now that i have work, it costs $60 a week to fill up. Gas in alaska is $4.30 a gallon currently.

Was looking into getting a much nicer car. Buying from my mechanic again of course. He doesn't sell any lemons. I'm still very pleased with the dynasty with the roll over and everything. It's still a great car and i wont like parting with it (oh man, just the sound system even). Currently using my current car for 1.5 months worth of rent to give to my landlord my ex. She still wants it; and i'm glad, she needs it.

My mechanic let me select the engine size and features. I only listed a 1.6 liter engine and an airbag, he recommended a stick shift, so i went with that since kia automatics suck badly according to him. So, apparently a 2003 kia rio hatchback is being prepared for  me at $1500.

Great on gas, and should zoom around great on the manual 5 speed transmission. Opinions of this car?

My cousin has a similar car, can't remember what year (I think it's an '05 or '06) but it's a Kia Rio Hatch and it's a fun little car. And maybe their automatics got better, but the one in theirs is far from bad. Even my Dad likes it, and he usually doesn't like small cars. That said, manuals are always better if you know how to drive them.

Standard issue with older Kia's - you will want to keep it undercoated if you deal with salty roads at all. They tend to rust out around the rear wheel wells awfully quickly.

Though you will definitely miss the sound system. Definitely nothing special at all about the stock system on Kia's older that the current generation. Not hard to upgrade though, if you're at all handy.

In short, 1500 for an '03 Kia in good condition? Good deal.

Considering I paid 1500 (Including taxes) for my last car, a '92 Saturn SL2 with 220,000 kms on it, yeah, 1500 for an '03 Kia is a pretty good deal.

Just looked up the figures, and it looks like average fuel prices in the UK, after all appropriate unit conversions is $8.92 USD/gallon.

In my neck of the woods, being close enough to an offshoot of the Colonial Pipeline that there's almost no point in having tankers delivering the petrol to the stations, prices have hit a year-long low of $3.05 USD/gallon.

It's all a matter of perspective.

I'm balking at the fact that a lot of the lower 48 states have cheaper gas than alaska. The other reason is that i can't afford to save much money filling up every week like this with my current car.

At the risk of derailment; Tell your government to tax your fuel less, and/or subsidize it like ours does. :p
