Try enabling the no-glsl troubleshooting option in the launcher. Your graphics hardware is well below minimum spec but with that turned on you might be able to squeak through.

Here is the log after disabling gsl shader support. It seems odd that the original releases of AoA and WiH worked flawlessly on this machine. I only started encountering problems with the release of WiH Act 3 Antipodes. Any other solutions I should look into short of getting a computer with a discrete graphics card? Thanks for all your time and effort guys.

It's not odd at all - the Act 3 release included new graphics code.

Are you absolutely sure that in addition to getting the compatibilty package (which I see installed in your log), you got one of the compatibility builds linked in The_E's first post? You must have one installed and selected in the launcher.

are you referring to ''corvette3t-03''? I obtained the files from the BP Compatibility download however I do not see the file from ''corvette3t-03'' anywhere in my BP folders or game directory. I have downloaded it now. Do I need to create a separate ''ships'' folder in either the AoA or WiH folder and place it there? I believe I recall doing this for the karuna patch that allowed the frigates to survive during delende est on my first WiH playthrough before the new release.

Thank you very much General Battuta and MattTheGeek for the huge amount of time and effort you spent helping me get this working. You were both very patient and helpful. I was able to get it working by using the build 3.6.19nosse. Hopefully this will help anyone else who was having these issues. Thanks again boys.

Ya, so I am not sure why this is happening. I run into the same issue that most have---crash at startup using the 3.6.17 SSE2 BP build. However, when I run the debug version, the crash never occurs. I can play AoA and WiH using the debug build with graphics settings maxed out and with minimal lag, provided I keep the lighting detail low.

I have switchable graphics, and, yes, I set it to use my Radeon HD 6770M card for both.

Hmm, I tried the newest build, but I am still having the same problem. I also tried disabling everything including the shaders and GLSL, and only the debugger will work. This is confusing.

Hi guys,
I returned to the FS2 yesterday to play the new act in WiH. And you guessed it, it is crashing.

I have HP ProBook 4530s laptop with Intel HD and AMD HD6490M gpus and W7 home 64b.

First thing I noticed from the debug logs is that the switchable graphics system is not working with OpenGL. It used the intel gpu all the time. Some info here http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?cc=uk&lc=en&docname=c02948560. Before messing with the BIOS settings I've opened the catalyst control center and power-switchable graphics method-select the graphics processor manually. (you need to set the high performance mode for your fs binaries in switchable graphics window ofc).

Now the debug states that the binary is using the ATI gpu and all the shader's errors are gone. Vanilla fs2 with MediaVPs is running much better (banging on 60 fps all the time).

Now the fs2_open_3_6_19_BP2_SSE2_DEBUG is running fine. I can start and play 'The Blade Itself" mission with some horrid FPS (4-5) (really nice lightings around though). When running the release binary I get into briefing room (before the configuration change it was crashing right after the start up) but it crashed in the ship selection screen.

Any help will be greatly appreciated .

I was too impatient to post here. I've tried to play with different lighting settings and it works. Now even with the highest ones and not crashing and looks great.
