That's true, but on the other hand if the games don't get a graphics update for the PC Edition then they risk looking dated compared to the original when they are released a year later or whatever. PC Hardware is infinitely superior to most consoles (and definitely will be in a years time) so the latest PC games will look much better than the long-in-coming console ports, unless they do it properly like GTA3 did.

Personally I think they made a mistake not releasing Halo for the PC around the same time as the X-Box but from their point of view they didn't. I'm damned if I'm buying an X-Box just to play two games though - there isn't that much else out there to support the Box anyways...

When the hell is four years in developement rushed?  They just did a bad job.  some games take alot less time to make, and are far superior to that piece of s!#^.  Look at FS2.

I am glad i got my x box its seen far more use then my gamecube or ps2, my mates rather play halo or GPR then anything else (including SS2).

The problem with the x-box is that it had some really killer games on launch but all the new big titles dont come out to chrimbo which is a bit of a shame......... but i suppose its better then launching with no good titles then having to wait for 4 months before a worthwhile game comes out.

The simple fact that it's taking so damn long may mean it sucks - I know that graphics isn't everything but if a game is in production for as long as Duke has been if it isn't released soon it may look bad to most people alongside other newer games like UT2003, which may actually not be as good - but will reach more people as most won't put up with the long development time for an old game.

  • huh?.. Who?.. hey you kids, git off me lawn!
[rant] let me rephrase myself.. i should have referred to sin instead of daikatana because after sin came out there were about half a dozen patches released soon after :P .. as for halo on pc.. i'll just say this.. "good things come to those who wait" just have a little patience and it'll be released before you know it, and you never know, Halo2 might even outdo it's predecessor. As for Duke Nukem forever, hell, they might be making a whole new engine for all i know, as i can see DNF is vaporware :( unfortuneate i know but lets have a little MORE  faith in developers that they will give us a product that is of high quality (like Halo).

As for bungie not releasing halo pc about the same time as the xbox version? Microsoft aquired Bungie not long after they announced the xbox. Don't be so quick to judge microsoft and to hope for thier downfall, we aussies call it tall poppy syndrome where one tries to bring someone of great Stature into ruin. some aussies do it all the time as some american's try to sue each other's arse off (it's a vicious cycle it'll die of i hope). I'm sure if Apple made it big instead of msoft we'll be give whoever owns the corporation a verbal flogging it's just human nature i'm afraid.

remember how long it took for red faction to come out on pc after the ps2 verson? just keep that in mind and try to be patient about such things, remember thest people work very hard as you may well know and it doesn't help to push them. they probably don't care but it doesn't help the situation any. Yeah, games like Splinter Cell, Unreal Championship, Colin McRae 3, MechAssault, etc don't count in this then, I assume . Plus Halo 2 when it eventually comes out...

Halo is great as it is.  But I wouldn't be surprised if it was packaged with the original campaign (which everyone whould have played by the time of the release and thus, old.) and simply geared towards online play more than anything, similar to Tribes2.

Which is another game that's too demanding for my poor machine to handle with an appreciable framerate. :(

*predicts a new machine in the future to solve these problems...*

Halo 2 looks like its going to be a great game. And now that I have a new Pentium 4 1.8A Ghz PC, I think I shall wait for it!!!

Yeah, if it comes out any time in the next two years... the trouble with waiting so long between releasing a game on one platform (especially a console) then porting it to PC is that it can suffer from looking old, that's less likely to happen with the PC since it's more advanced within a month of a console being released than a console is.

Of course MS won't loose out as a result - we PC only owners will, I'm damned if I'm buying an X-Box just to play Halo.

i on the other hand bought an x-box just for halo, and it was a good buy

Mmm, It's a financial thing - I would if I had the cash to burn, however it's a hell of a lot of money for one game.

of course there are always certain people who might create certain tools to make it possible for a certain program to work on another platform.

Of course it is the policy of a certain Community not to speak about these certain programs and the results tey are certain to get ;)

I'm certainly sure you can all acertain what I'm certainly not talking about.

;) :D
