No, it actually did run rock solid.  I've rarely had a problem with 9x systems...and those were caused by Windows rott.  See, unlike the morons that constantly complain about it being crash happy, I actually KNOW what I'm doing and actually don't beat the **** out of my case when a program crashes, go on a delete spree, and let spyware run free on my computer.  I actually scan my computer for viruses on a weekly basis.  Same for spyware.  If I didn't turn it off when I finished what I was doing, my computer would actually run 24/7. (not counting the times I would have to reboot when applying fixes via Windows Update)

  • huh?.. Who?.. hey you kids, git off me lawn!
yeah, i run 98 as well, (not SE) and so far i've had not problems that wern't my own fault... the fact is i've locked up my calculator more times than i locked my computer...(true story)
the only serious lockups i had were hardware issues, like running out of memory during photoshop sessions. But that's extremely rare and only happens when i dare to work at 1200 dpi

now could someone please tell me why the hell i've got to plug my USB scanner back in (remove/relpace) EVERY time i want to use the blasted thing, otherwise it BSOD's me

in case of emergency, administer caffeine to the artist,
he will become docile after that,

A computer where I need to spend half of your time working just to keep it operational isn't a useful tool, it's a royal pain in the ass. Particularly when I can just use a better operating system and have no problems at all.

We know, a junk car made out of a 20-year-old lawnmower engine and a rusted-out old chassis can run perfectly well if ya wanna spend a lot of time maintaining it, too. Can even get it to go up to 50 for a while. Doesn't make it a worthwhile expenditure of time or money.
