Microbit stream techniques are still better than compress formats though. Just take a look at Homeworld for an example of that. You can run the game on a bare minimum spec system and though the game may play jerky, the sound still comes out quite smooth.
Sure the files might take as much as a (PCM) wave file, but the output quality is good and at a much lower cpu work load than MP3 and/or OGG.
Size isn't everything... at least not file size
