tellme, what genius decided that Scottish money should be different from English money?

i mean, use Euros, or at least one kind of pounds, but this is getting annoying if you travel around the country.

Well indeed.
What was more annouying is that before Ireland adopted the Euro, and still had the Irish Pound, shops in Dublin would accept £Sterling, but give change in the Irish pounds. The result being that you'd get ripped off, as Irish pounds were worth about 75 English pence at the time. I found this out the hard way, see.
