Not sure how I missed this, but it's out!

Apparently CS is the "full upgrade" whereas Photoshop 8.0 isn't... more confusing for my little brain to comprehend. Anyways, has anyone got this on order? Or maybe even tried it out?

it's not actually photoshop 8, i can't remember exactly why not, but someone explained it to me a while ago, when it first came out, and it seemed to make sense, so i left it at that...

Yeah, seems "CS" is the entire package - it comes with other programs as well - and therefore costs more. However Photoshop 8.0 is included in that package and can be bought separately.

I think it's easiest to think of it as "the new version of Photoshop is out".

Yeah, basically Photoshop 8. The big thing is, that every program in the CS suite was designed to work together with every other program. So kinda like Voltron, they're stonger when they're together. Too bad Macromedia beat them to the punch like 2 years ago :):)

I was at Graphics Canada (trade show) this weekend, and I just hung around Abode's booth cause most of the other stuff was too technical for me (printing and such). They had presentations going of all the programs in the CS suite, and I gotta say, its pretty interesting stuff. From what I saw, Illustrator got the biggest overhaul, but Photoshop also had some cool new features added.  I'll maybe be looking to pick up the CS Suite some time, but for now Photoshop 7 is doing the job for me.

hmmm...CS doesn't look like a huge improvement from PS7, at least not as much as PS7 was from PS6. not really worth $150 for an upgrade.

From what I hear it was the other way around.  PS7 wasn't anything much and that Photoshop CS is a much bigger upgrade.

I'm currently a PS6 user so I'm seriously considering going to CS.

PS7 was very much an incremental upgrade - most people didn't think it was worth a whole number, wasn't even as great as PS5 to PS5.5 (which was quite a leap). Of course, I'm not even considering this thing since it's so dear, but it's interesting to keep up with the industry. ;)
