I used AOL for the space of one evening. I was after a dial-up ISP, and AOL was offering a free month back then so I whacked the disk in and off I went.

The first thing that made me want to smach my monitor was that bloody ginger woman saying 'welcome to AOL' and 'you've got mail'. Never did find a way to disable her. She's annoying enough in real life, let alone a cartoon version.

Now 'course back in those days I was on the old Napster pretty much all the time, 'not' downloading pirate MP3s. I discovered, however, that AOL would disconect itself after twenty minutes if I hadn't been using their awful awful browser. Most annoying.

The final nail in the coffin was trying to cancel my contract. The guy held me on the phone for a good fifteen minutes trying to argue me around to not leaving. He refused to take 'it sucks donkey balls' as my reason for wanting out. I wanted to punch him in the face so badly.

To sum up, I hate AOL and all it stands for.

DG: Actually, yes. It was just annoying finding it- a problem that isn't so great with AOL. Even the under-the-table stuff it does is well-documented.

I told him that I was "Cancelling and nothing bar a blowjob from the queen will ever get me to use your god awful service again" and he seemed to be ok with it, not that I gave him much in the way of space to argue with, I guess he was kinda in shock. Oh well.

Problem is, my town doesn't have any hsi connections to other towns yet... Plus my parents don't want to go through the hastle my aunt had when she got her first computer and internet 2 months ago, simply because she insisted on getting a ****ing wireless router for a desktop somputer... Comcast, who is supposedly in my town too, keeps telling her to disconnect the router, but doesn't tell her how to put it in (like she needs it )... But anyway, if she keeps paying me each time i reset her router, i'll keep telling her it works...
