I use more procedurals than bitmaps, you know. there's nothing difficult with using them, no UV mapping ( well usually ), no low resolution pb, no stretching of the map, etc. You just have to spend some time on it but, all in all, they're still faster to make than a bitmap.
So yeah, my point stands, amateurs use more procedurals than bitmaps, coz they're easier ( doesn't mean it'll look better, heh ).
Anyway, just browse a 3D forum and you'll see by yourself ( tho some "so called amateurs do absolutly incredible stuff with procedurals, and you'd think it's in fact a bitmap ).
