EVE is a good game, but hell its not newbee friendly at all. I watched a friend start an account and mine for like HOURS just to get cash and some decent equipment. It's quite tedious but I guess all games in this group have the same characteristics. The economic and social aspects (Have to join groups/corporations to be more effective) are very deep though.
Mining is a waste of time. Finish your training missions then run agent missions.. much MUCH more profitable and you dont get bored doing them.
Sadly that's what killed it for me. I'd join if they had good andrenaline rush Freespace dog fighting like play. Sadly its just press a key and watch your ship duke out. Can't blame them though, I would guess that thousands of ships dog fighting would bog down the servers quite a bit.
Its more than just press a key.. there is

of strategy when it comes to fitting your ship up and it doesnt take the biggest guns to win a battle. There is

of skill involved in combat especially with the high manuverable frigates and stuff like that.
They just doubled the server load this weekend, so more than 10k people on the servers wont bog it down. Plus the 5k solar systems are on different clusters and high traffic areas near the highway gates have much more load capacity. Ive been in 100 person fleet battles with drones and ive had minimal lag.
