This is pathetic, is there nowhere on this planet that you can escape from the walking poison gas emitters!

If they smoke "in the privacy of their appartment/house" (there is no such thing when it comes to gaseous pollutants) it drifts outside to stink up the area, or worse drifts outside then into your windows if you have your windows open for some fresh air!

If they smoke outside it stinks up the area and then drifts into your home and stinks up your home.

If they smoke in public areas it is sure to be forced on people who don't want it - and peope smoke in public areas ALL THE TIME

When do you people realize that no matter where you go, how you hide, there is no [reasonable, feasable] way which you can avoid infringing other peoples rights.  You would have to go inside a sealed chamber with filtration beyond your imagination to prevent infringment on other peoples rights.

Any ETS is harmful, plain and simple.

Don't even try to cry "we have a right" - you do not - any exercise of a right that infringes upon someone else's rights is not a protected exercise, it is an abuse of the right - in legal terms it's called "license"

there is such a thing as taking it too far. I don't want to live in a sterile world, free from little nuisances and dangers. I want to eat red meat, and breathe in the occasional second hand smoke, and still be able to tell rascist and dead baby jokes.

My fear is that one day, one day soon, people like Kazan will have the power to actually implement their vision. At times like these, that little conservative voice in the back of my head kicks in, and suddenly I find myself wishing the liberals out there would just shut the hell up about the unimportant things for once. I'm not talking socio-economic, political stuff, I'm talking about the other side of the modern, enlightened liberal, who wants to ban smoking and watches nothing but home decorating shows.

what you need Kaz is a little appreciation for a hendonistic lifestyle. Go hang out in Italy for Greece or something for a few years, it'll turn you right around.

Not really. Actually I fear all authoritarians, but I don't think Socialist would be the proper term for an Authoritarian Liberal.

It is as I decribed. It is my imperfect, dengerous, filthy, greuling, hendonistic, intolerant life that makes me human. And while I will strive to improve my conditions and those of others, people can at times take it too far.

I think this is widespread only in America, and to a degree in Europe. Everywhere else, you have bigger problems to worry about than second hand smoke and homosexual representation of TV and political correctness. One more reason to hate soccer moms, they the root of all this you know.

Smoking causes cancer. Second hand smoke causes cancer.

Thus, smoking is bad. Thus people should not be killing themselves or each other by sucking on sticks of burning weeds. (weeds, not weed )

There is also clear logic to indicate smokers are dumb, I hope you don't need me to explain why people.
