You can get both FS1 and FS2 Retail versions in the eDonkey p2p network. Either use eDonkey 2000 or eMule. You can check it all out in the shareconnector.com site.
Check the forums for info on how to use it.

Shareconnector is not illegal, it does not host illegal stuff. FS1 is simply not there, I couldn't find it yet. Wait! I seem to have searched FS1 in the wrong category. I typed in 'Conflict' and it found Predator 2(the film) alongside with several unknown names.

Uh, if it´s illegal and goes against the forum rules, i apologize and will take it out.
Although p2p is NOT warez. Warez sites are those were you go, click and download, without the use of any third party application. P2P is not like that. You need to have the client prog.
And since FS is already legal to d/l anyway, it makes no diference where you get it from.

How many CDs on the original FS1 retail version?
If anyone wants FS2 Retail, get eMule, get it working with good servers, and use it to make a search for "Freespace". Get the one that has "Sharereactor" in the end of the name. It´s an .iso image, and it´s 3 CDs long. D/l them, and then use Daemon tools to install directly, or burn the images using Nero.

Of course, if by any way this post goes against the forum rules, let me now and i will delete it right away.

Its not really what they're called, more of the fact that you are essentialy doing the same thing... Shouldn't need to delete them, if an andmin hasn't intervened by now, you should be ok... (should, not guarenteed... but its not like you'll get banned, they'll just remove them themselves)

That's a point - Does anyone know where I can get the expansions for both Freespace 1 and 2?

There is no official expansion to FS2.  Plenty of mods, but no actual games.  As for Silent Threat, play the port's version.  The FS1 version was bad beyond all reason.

I also played the FSPort version, which was incompletably difficult. So it was just bad. Derelict XXL.
