Indeed it is. I've had D3 for a long time now and I haven't yet bothered to finish the game. The game being too dark is bull**** but its repetitive and dull after a promising start. D3 is on the same line as Painkiller. :doubt:

you're aware that

a)  you have a flashlight... you can access the flashlight by pressing "F"... i'd assume that they wanted the game to be dark since, oh yeah, you're on either Mars surface, or inside a facility with hardly any lights...  yeah that would make sense.

b)  if it's still too bright, try raising the "brightness"... that usually raises the overall lighting

To be really fair - the game is dark. However you're equiped with a flashlight, there are mods on the internet to allow each weapon to have a flashlight mounted on it - and on top of it all - it's part of the point of the game that it's dark. It's not a nice bright facility - it's been taken over by the hordes of hell and of course the power is out in most places. Big suprise then - that it's dark.

It seems like every time I turn a corner in that game I shoot at my own shadow. They need to fix that somehow. Other than that its really a great game.

My only real complaints were that it needed more monster types, and that you weren't in Hell for long enough, and seemed by simply be following your nose when you were.

That said, it was a damn good game :)

I think it did become repetitive - it relied on the same scare tactics over and over. As someone observed on another forum - monsters either:

a. Attack as soon as you open a door/enter an area.
b. Wait untill you pick something up / walk past a certain point in a room.

It never changes from that formula.

In addition - imps are heavily used - as are human infantry - where a lot of other kind of monsters could've been used.

Hell could've seen more variety... considering there are no "laws" as such for how it should look. Also it seemed to rely upon taking all your weapons away as opposed to spending much time there. Likewise there were a lot of corridors and such in the Mars facility... more variety there could've been good as well. Docking bays... warehouses... science labs... accomadation for the workers...

Meh, I'm getting picky. It was a good game but could've been better.

I liked the game, personally.  To echo everyone else, yes, it did get repetitive. I stopped playing it and moved onto modding and other things before I even reached Hell however (altho I was just about there)....the game was fun, but definately not an all-nighter (not to mention how scary it would be to do that! :nervous: :D)

Doom 3 Demo Is Finally Here!!
can someone help me?

I've just gotten a new video card, one capable of running Doom3. So I download the demo, and after the installation bar gets to 100%, it just hangs there, apparently copying readme.txt. I leave it for like 10 or so minutes, and then sometimes it tells me there is not enough space, even though there is, and sometimes it just freezes the comp. I even downloaded the file from two different places, just to make sure it wasn't corrupt.

I've been looking forward to Doom as long as everyone else, and now I can't even get the demo to work. Any help would be appreciated.

That has to be the most irritating game tactic ever - letting you get half-way / 3 quarters of the way through then taking all your guns away.
:hopping:
I mean, if I wanted to piss away 15 hours of preserving ammo for the harder bits, I'd restart the ****ing game.  Later levels need more, bigger guns, not restarting with a pistol because the developers couldn't be arsed designing anything new and wanted to go back to the old, easy enemies.

In all fairness, you do get them back pretty quickly, though, I found the Guardian a lot harder to kill than Sarge.
