New Turret Orion

having a site really has its perks.
To consider the Earth as the only populated world in infinite space is as absurd as to assert that in an entire field of millet, only one grain will grow. - Metrodorus of Chios
I wept. Mysterious forces beyond my ken had reached into my beautiful mission and energized its pilots with inhuman bomb-firing abilities. great. i tried giving two of the turrets 3 beams each, but for some reason they wouldn't fire.

[EDIT] What did you use to make your site like that? The Yahoo thing?

Yeah i used yahoo pagebuilder. And if the beams dont fire, they havent been freed yet. To free them you have to create an event in the events editor (in FRED2).

it should look something like this, if you're just testing:

when
-has time elapased
--5
-beam-free-all
--GTD Orion

what type of beam did you put on that turret? And where is this turret located (it could be that the enemy isnt in the beam's field of fire).

no, it doesnt really matter what beams you put on the turret. The turret must be facing the enemy for it to fire. Select the orion in FRED2 and press "K" or is it "S". Anyway, cycle the turrets and fine one thats on the front of the orion and put a beam on that turret.

I've found in personal experience beam weapons on the Orion multi-turrets rarely fire. I had a modified Orion with beams on its turrets go head to head with a Hecate and it only fired once the Hecate started to intersect the Orion.

Guess those gunners were taking the "Don't shoot till you see the whites in their eyes" a little too seriously.

Yeah, it's better to have beams on single turrets.

Anyway have a look at this.

It's a great FAQ!

(and btw, how do you like my site?)

Yeaa, sorry peps, but Hotmail has been giving me trouble.  Couldn't upload the other set of zip files I was planing to send out.  Kept saying there was a uncleanable zirus within them, but my father zirus scanner, the best around couldn't find one, and my CPU has been offline since last august.

PotUS, yours was the only one it acceptted.
