I just promised myself I wouldn't get into this again, but.....

My G5 has bog-standard DDR400 RAM, Seagate SATA drives, standard PCI slots, 8XAGP, and runs Samsung monitors from a nVidia FX5200.  Oh, and Wacom, Logitech mice, Gravis gamepad, and Wingman Joystick on the USB...

The ONLY thing not standard is the processor/mobo, and the nVidia card (they do something to the flash memory to make the PC ones incompatible)

Games are a problem, I'll be the first to admit, but I have an X-Box, so it's not so bad.  The one thing that did annoy me on that side was the cancellation of Half-Life (they ditched the Mac port half way through developement)

But the usual games do appear, Halo, Quake, Jedi Academy, MOHAA, COD, Indiana Jones, ROTK, Neverwinter Nights, WOW, etc.  No Freespace sadly....

As for software:

Browsers: Camino, Firefox, IE, Mozilla, Safari
Creative GoLive CS, Illustrator CS, InDesign CS, Photoshop CS, Acrobat Pro 6, Macromedia Freehand 10
Media: Quicktime Player, RealPlayer, Window Media Player
Office: Excel, Word, Powerpoint, Entourage
Chat: MSN, Yahoo, ICQ, iRC etc.
3D: Lightwave, Strata 3D, Blender
Apple stuff: iMovie, iDVD, iPhoto, iTunes

So, I get by....

Maybe, but they seem to be more style than substance compared to PCs and they cost a lot more to boot.  I could build an incredible PC for what a baseline Mac costs.  Besides, I have a library of old games like MoM(the single remaining game that hasn't had a craptacular new eyecandy version made of it, but it was such a good game to begin with that all it really needs is an engine update)and such that I can barely get to run on a PC much less trying to port a Mac version
So as through a glass, and darkly
The age long strife I see
Where I fought in many guises,
Many names, but always me.

There are only 10 types of people in the world , those that understand binary and those that don't.

I know for a fact that the processors used in Macs (i.e. all them) are a ****load better designed than PC processors (i.e. x86); also weren't macs the first to use proper 64 bit registers a couple of processor generations ago?
