Thats a LOT of space...

Meh, got a 180 GB external USB 2.0 HD for €75. Ten of those is cheaper and almost twice as much. And also, it's about 3 times smaller then that thing. So ten of the ones I have won't even take up that much room. And this one is helluva fast as well.

Sorry, not impressed. NEXT!

:p

They are nice drives, the 1TB was a bit more than I needed, so I bought the 320GB

Oh, and Firewire 800 > pretty much everything, except those mad Ultra SCSI drives....

I always try and think ahead....;7

But, anyway, having a full backup of everything is reassuring....

CACHE: 8mb

It holds 976562500 MB and it only has an 8MB cache?

I noticed that at first too... It can't just donate some couple hundred megs to it at least?

Nice bragging rights though... "can I download everything from the LAN FTP? Yes, yes I think I can."

I just backed up my B drive to it - 20,000 files, 9.5GB - 5 minutes.

I don't really care about the cache.....

Prefetching 8MB data on a external drive.... why the comments guys? It's hardly going to be intended for use for running a game's swap space off.

Why would anyone need that kind of space, to have every game in the world? I barely use 40gb.

Actually, it'd be great for video capture, as you could write directly to it uncompressed, and then work from that...

Hard disk cache isnt comprised of disk space. Its RAM. When the power goes off, it gets wiped. If you look at the circut board on the bottom of  an internal drive you can see the modules. Why the hell would you put a few hundred megs of ram on a hard drive anyway? For one, transfer rates arent to the point that it would be able to fill that up ever, and two, thats more than some computers have.

Just give me my 80GB and I'm fine...
