French Titus liquidated, Interplay may follow?

Apparently Titus (Interplay's parent company) has been liquidated in France. This only affects Titus's subsidiaries in France but the 67% stock that Titus had in Interplay might affect Interplay. Maybe Interplay will go on panic and start selling more licenses too...

That's what Skippy was telling me. (I didn't want to make a thread about it, although he said I should :p)

Something like Eur120m  in losses last quarter. And Now they're in bankruptcy...

I'm not terribly worried, mind you, but I am curious to see what happens with Interplay.

I just assumed all the while that interplay had simply dissolved. I did not realize titus owned more than 50% of their stock either. Pretty interesting. I wonder what will become of them.....

They're not doing much other than laying people off and neglecting to pay employees though.

I won't be surprised if they find another parent company before they sell the rights to Descent and Freespace.
I finally destoryed the Shivan armada and all I got was this lousy T shirt.

why do they even bother staying together? they aren't turning a profit with no games coming out. the longer they wait to dissolve, the more money they'll lose.

[color=66ff00]I'm waiting for the day when the games market will reflect the music market i.e. 5 big companies controlling all of it and nobody else gets a foot in the door.

It'd be better than having just EA (as it will end up being), I guess.......

Compared to having only one game company (Electronic Arts) owning everything already?

:wtf:

Their purchase of Criterion (and therefore RenderWare) means they actually have much more control over the games industry than any equivilant music company.

Just think, ISS & GTA both used RenderWare, amongst others.
EA state the purchase has no effect, as you would expect.

Interplay will be liquidated too, so they'll have to sell all they actually have (so licences too, maybe ?) to pay the debts.
