I'm pissed 'cos all this happened on the one day I decided not to sit in front of computer browsing HLP. :sigh: Just my luck... Well.. Maybe something like this will happen next year and I will be there witnessing it... :wtf:

But I hope the forums can be restored back to the way they were. :doubt:

A definite not funny was touching the project forums, but even then it's pretty bad if this isn't something that can be restored right away.

A lot of posts will be lost either way, because if a db restore is done, we're still reasonably borked because we'll lose any posts made during the pirate thing. (I'm geussing you backed up before that, and not betweeen the word fileter and hacking stuff?)

Not really, I'm just annoyed at the SCP internal suddenly being gone when I was working on the mantis cleaning and needed feedback.

You know what's scary? I agree with you.

Granted, I can see how it could be irritating to people.. but I never imagined this level of reaction.

Perhaps we should just take the forums offline all together and blame a GS server issue untill we can put the old forums back. Everyone accepts that without complaining quite so much.

IMO, it wasn't very funny. Not funny at all. "The Pirate talks" were all nice and entertaining. But to see forums disapperar one by one, to see Pr0n link appearing and to see HLP website in state of disarray among other things. I find that just a little disturbing. Even TBP forum went down...

It's a good thing you made Backups beforehand. still as said, lot of posts are lost. I only wish all the forums to be back online ASAP.

Frankly, I skipped out on April Fools because I was playing Navy Field.

I'm glad, since HLP had this and one of the other forums I go to had seizure-inducing flashing green and yellow.

Reading over the posts, your an0n impression was good, but not quite good enough to be convincing. Perhaps if it had, I would have found it funny.

As it stands, I was going to finish the rough draft of my SA mission today, but somehow assumed the forums would be up so I could check specifics...

Oddly enough, I remarked on that in the Grognards forum...  :nervous:

How does one become a grognard? Is it just a postcount thing, or do you have to have completed something major? Because I know I've played Fs2 more than a good deal of you (since '99), so it can't be anything gameplay-skill-related. :p

Can we keep the kvetching to one thread?

And you know what? Aside from the SCP peeps, who really do make headway day-by-day, I think all the rest of you people complaining about the lost productivity time on your respective projects are being whiny little babies. As if you accomplish so much in 2 days. I wish. Pfft, some (honest) people are even commenting how their productivity went up because of this mess. So go get a life, a sense of humor, or both.

Grognards is sort of for project heads, although all moderators on HLP have access. It's sort of a place where some of the core ppl of HLP can discuss things related to HLP rationally, without floods of newbies asking irrelevant questions. Not having access to Grognards doesn't say anything about anyone, don't worry.

"...The quintessential quality of our age is that of dreams coming true. Just think of it. For centuries we have dreamt of flying; recently we made that come true: we have always hankered for speed; now we have speeds greater than we can stand: we wanted to speak to far parts of the Earth; we can: we wanted to explore the sea bottom; we have: and so  on, and so on: and, too, we wanted the power to smash our enemies utterly; we have it. If we had truly wanted peace, we should have had that as well. But true peace has never been one of the genuine dreams - we have got little further than preaching against war in order to appease our consciences. The truly wishful dreams, the many-minded dreams are now irresistible - they become facts." - 'The Outward Urge' by John Wyndham

"The very essence of tolerance rests on the fact that we have to be intolerant of intolerance. Stretching right back to Kant, through the Frankfurt School and up to today, liberalism means that we can do anything we like as long as we don't hurt others. This means that if we are tolerant of others' intolerance - especially when that intolerance is a call for genocide - then all we are doing is allowing that intolerance to flourish, and allowing the violence that will spring from that intolerance to continue unabated." - Bren Carlill
